“America has a gun problem,” they said. We‘ve had the gun control narrative screamed at us like crazy for over a decade. Americans cannot be trusted with firearms & would likely “shoot first” in all kinds of situations, especially those they perceive as threatening. 1/

And definitely those that involve minorities. Trigger happy & whatnot. The gun situation is obviously highly dangerous, right? Well American cities are knee deep in protests, riots, & destruction. Yet shootings in response are crazy low. 2/

If ever there was a time such irresponsible, gun wielding Americans would go nuts, it would be now. And yet...that’s not the case. Thousands have taken to their businesses & streets armed to deter, but few have needed to or been willing to engage their firearms. 3/

What is going on? If it was a gun problem & reckless American problem, would we not have bodies piling up? We don’t, because what many of has said repeatedly is true. Use of lethal force is the LAST resort & even in the face of chaos & destruction, we are hesitant to use it. 4/

If the media & Dem narrative about guns & their owners were true, it would be a fucking bloodbath. Yes, people are deterring looters with armed defenders. Yes, the suburbs are doing the same. But no one is willy nilly shooting people, even bad actors. 5/

Even all those Bubba MAGAs who are “muh rebel flag, muh gun” wielding racists, who we were told would are dangerous af & would shoot POC without provocation, are not rounding up their boys to do...anything. 6/

If a lot of this is truly white supremacist infiltration & they intend to fuel the mayhem, why would they not be loading trucks armed with their AR-15s to go intimidate & impose their will? To gun down abusers & get their own kind of justice? 7/

All of this completely betrays the anti-gun argument that citizens cannot be trusted with foreakrs. It’s amazing how so many blue checks & others, once shitstorms came to their neighborhoods, are admitting that they are now looking into armed self defense. 8/

“Just call 911.” Welp, they are overwhelmed & telling people to fend for themselves given the current strife. “Just call the police.” The same police you have deemed racist & inadequate? “Only police & military should be armed.” How is that working out, y’all? 9/

No. You are the only one that is responsible for and can be held accountable to your family, friends, & property. Do what you must. I hope you are armed. fin/

Good advice from this lady.

As I mentioned in another article, I was in an Academy Sporting Goods Store near Charlotte, NC today and they were running pretty low on firearms and ammo. Looked like they had quite a few .22 rifles, but limited inventory of pistols, shotguns and rifles. Didn't see any AR's.

Yeah, I know it should have been posted as a blog. I'll self quarantine myself in my bed tonight for a few hours as punishment.

I wrote a paper on it in 1980 for a law enforcement college course. It was a red hot issue given the crime rate. One of the reasons Clinton and the Dems got killed in 1994 was the Brady Bill and the “assault weapons ban.” This has gone on a lot longer than a decade.

Anyone who lives in a large Democrat controlled city and doesn’t own a gun has a problem these days.

I am an older white male and I have a gun problem. I have a pistol and a rifle. My problem is that I would like to have a semi automatic.

I have a serious gun problem. I have at least another 30 or so collectible firearms on my list, but my budget for guns only allows me to buy about 12-15 guns per year and that rate is about to slow down considerably in the next year or so as I get down to just the more expensive guns on my list.

Oh, I also have an ammo problem. I’m below the minimum 1,000 round threshold in 9mm luger, .380 and .32. Fortunately, I’ve got well more than that in .223, 5.56mm. 7.62X39, 9mm makarov, tokarev, .45 and 7.62X54 but I do need to restock about 3,000 rounds in the above listed calibers. I shouldn’t have let it get low. Mea culpa.

How about for the last 57 years.

America does indeed have a gun problem ... there aren’t enough guns, particularly now.

“We‘ve had the gun control narrative screamed at us like crazy for over a decade. *** How about for the last 57 years?”

Exactly! The modern push for gun control & confiscation began with the JFK assassination in 1963. I turned 15 that same day and was already eagerly following the Ye Olde Hunter ads with their very inexpensive surplus rifles and pistols for which I had neither the cash nor the eligible age to begin acquiring.

I remember too the instant-President Lyndon Johnson (gad, what a despicable character!) denouncing what he called “mail order murder” as he called for licensing & registration at the Federal level.

It took the MLK & RFK assassinations for a gutted Gun Control Act of 1968 to be signed into law nearly five years later by lame-duck LBJ. It wasn’t even close to what he wanted and he vented his spleen at the NRA during the signing ceremony; look up “remarks GCA-68”.

In the 60’s & 70’s the push was to ban handguns, handguns, & handguns. So-called assault weapons bans were first floated in the early 90’s by the execrable Clintons. Fortunately the 1994 ban was sunsetted ten years after passage.

Several blue states have passed assault weapons bans but the noncompliance rate averages 90% and so far no governor has dared send out his flying monkeys to bang on doors and seize weapons. In the current crisis I believe public resistance to confiscation will harden even further.

But then as always, “gun control is a tide that is always coming in”. Just like Islam.

***look up “remarks GCA-68”.***

I had a nice link to LBJ’s remarks, then one day they disappeared from that web site. Had to keep looking and found them again.

Here is the part I often quote to show the futility of gun control.
https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/remarks-upon-signing-the-gun-control-act-1968

“Today we begin to disarm the criminal and the careless and the insane. All of our people who are deeply concerned in this country about law and order should hail this day.”-— Lyndon Johnson signing the 1968 gun control act into law.

Vietnam war raging, cities burning, campus chaos, racial warfare, and then Johnson bails after a single primary defeat when RFK jumps in.

GCA-68 was just the evil bastard’s parting shot.

RFK was assassinated. What if LBJ had waited longer before making his announcement? He might have survived the convention & had incumbent’s advantage over Richard Nixon.

Meanwhile, ordinary Joes like us are buffeted by titanic forces unleashed by a few. It was ever thus.

I have four kids. Each are out on their own. The only one who doesn’t own a firearm lives in apartment by herself.

When the lockdown started, I called my son who lives nearby to drop off a shotgun at her place.

She called to thank me. I told her that I didn’t really expect it, but just in case the social order breaks down, I wanted her to have some means of protection.

So far nothing is happening anywhere near her.

One son lives about 20 miles from DC but I’m not worried about him. Between him and his roommates, the local police might come to them for a weapons resupply.
