The Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne Tha God said his recent discussion with Rush Limbaugh was a waste of time because it felt like a performance by the conservative talk radio legend.
What really bothered me about that conversation was, after I left that conversation I felt like it wasnt productive. I have no problem talking to people from the other side but I just have to feel like thats really your truth. I dont know if I got that from Rush, it felt like more of a performance, Charlamagne said Wednesday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert during a wide-ranging conversation on race relations.
Colbert said he felt the same way when he interviewed President Trump. It felt like a performance, Colbert said.

So it's correct that it was a waste of time. For Rush. He said he wanted dialogue, he tried to find it from a guy that just wanted to lecture.
Yes. That too.
For both sides I'm sure.
How many times did he say systematic racism. But never offered one suggestion to fix it. The Black community knows how to fix the problem but they cant utter it aloud.it is culturally lack of personal responsibility. How many people in the AA community are raised by grandparents?
I think we have an extreme case of Dunning-Kreuger effect operating with this Charlamagne.
Rush didn’t have the best performance, he kept trying to frame the discussion on race as a situation Democrats and Democrat policies were to blame for, and kept trying to steer the conversation back to that point. Rush does a political show and approaches the world in that frame. Rush also runs his show in a predictable fashion that he dictates, in part because of his hearing issues, but also because he’s been doing it so long. Charlemagne and his other morning crew hosts approach their show as a cultural and topical show, and calling out Democrats right from the start was not working.
The morning crew side was also trying to steer the discussion to get Rush to admit and apologize for his “white privilege” (which then became accusations of white supremecy as the competing narratives went on and the morning crew lost patience).
To me it came off as a bad approach by Rush that he didn’t adjust to once it was clear that it wasn’t being effective and an increasingly combative morning crew expecting Rush to show up and be both deferential and eager to be lectured to about his white privilege, which of course he would have none of.
It was a waste of my time listening to this buttwipe cutting Rush off at every turn since Rush probably couldn’t hear.....I didn’t listen to the 2nd part. I love Rush but he blew it on this, IMHO
I heard it (before I HAD to turn it off to go barf) and it WAS a big waste of time: Rush’s time. This guy is a knee-jerk black racist thug, and I wouldn’t waste another second on his idiocy.
That’s definitely not the god who has loaned Rush his talent.
it was a waste of time, for RUSH.
Once again, Rush is the bigger man. HE sought out these bigots to try to engage in meaningful dialogue, and C da G saw it as a performance. Useless.
what i heard was three people shouting that rush’s opinions and views didn’t matter because he was white and privileged. they were not interested in discussion because white supremacy was at the core of everything wrong with the US.
if white privilege is defined as :
-growing up in a two parent loving household, then i am privileged.
-two parents that sacrificed everything for their children, count me privileged.
-parents that paid for an affordable college, then i am privileged.
-instilled a work ethic in me early to respect labor of man and earn a dollar, then i am privileged.
-instilled the need to respect all with an emphasis on choosing good friends to be relied on, then i am privileged.
-prevented from experimentation of drugs and alcohol, to an extent, than i am privileged.
-respectful of women to not impregnate before wedlock, frustrated and privileged.
-having the self esteem to not allow personal attacks to cause social meltdowns or joining a gang...
-encouraged to see the value of education and respect of institutions that can better my position, rather than tear them down or make excuses for them.
yes i am privileged. but it is not a white thing. it can be anyone’s privilege. that is what makes america great.
Exactly. Of the 3 of them he was confrontational.
“institutional racism”? Rush should have said it exists in the democrat party.
The only thing I got from the conversation was the Breakfast Club chanting ‘Institutional Racism’, ‘Systemic Racism’ and ‘Social Justice’. They could not define those terms in a million years because there mean nothing!!!
exactly. and, so far, no one is standing up to these idiots and calling them out on their ridiculous position
Yes, it was a waste of Rush's time, and tuning in to C-the-fraud is always a waste of time.
Rush was giving stock answers because Rush knew it was a waste of time trying to “get deep” with this fellow.
Proverbs says that the wise can be rebuked and will love you for it but fools will only scorn you.
We don’t have to live with these people.
