DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) Republicans havent abandoned the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina yet, but if they do, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, a Democrat, said hes hoping the GOP wouldnt bring their national convention to Dallas.
No disrespect to any group, its just we cannot afford to have thousands of people coming from all over the U.S. to Dallas right now, said Judge Jenkins.
But Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley, a Republican, said the county has large stadiums that could hold the tens of thousands of delegates safely because theyd have room to practice social distancing.
The AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Park, theres a number of venues that we could use and I think itd be a great place to hold the convention, said Judge Whitley

Judge Jenkins has a degree from the Lenin Institute of Economics.
Judge Whitley needs to grow a set.
Coeur D Alene Idaho would be best....
And the democRAT judge goes on to say that, "....it's just we cannot afford to have thousands of people coming from all over the U.S. to Dallas right now, said Judge Jenkins.
If the Republicans decided to move their political convention to another venue, it would be a huge boost to the local economy at a time when people and businesses need some economic good news.
The democRAT judge can only see it as a negative, trying to justify his view on the virus. He doesn't want any economic boost to come from the Republicans.
Arlington, TX, where AT&T Stadium is located is in Tarrant County, not Dallas County. If Jerry Jones wants the RNC Convention down there, he can make it happen.
I don’t think it needs to be in Texas.
It needs to be in a battleground state.
For those who don’t know, Jenkins (democrat) went over the top on restrictions in Dallas county and was being pilloried on the local radio stations until Abbot made him walk back the restrictions.
And the brand new Globe Life Field, home of the Rangers, has a roof and a/c to combat the hot weather. The Tarrant County Judge referred to Globe Life Park which has no roof.
AT&T (Jerry’s World) or GLF would be great venues. Lots of hotels, restaurants, shops and Texas Live within walking distance.
