Father in Heaven, thank you for blessing us with Your faithful warriors whose service to You, as well as to our country, freed us over and over again from those who would destroy your children. Please bless all those left behind, heal the wounded hearts who most keenly mourn their loss, and keep us all in Your warm embrace as we face this solemn day replete with gratitude and awareness of our indebtedness as we honor those who gave all. Amen

Continued lockdown will cause more deaths than the virus will.

The original stated purpose of the lockdown was to avoid overloading the hospital system. That is not an issue any more, and was never an issue.

We need to open now, and just accept any uptick in cases. But, looking at Georgia, we are unlikely to see any major uptick.

There’s been a push to re-open libraries but they refuse

Of course they refuse. Library staff is getting paid regardless. Stop paying staff as long as its closed, and things would be different.

“There’s been a push to re-open libraries but they refuse.”

Bet they’re still getting paid.

Any takers?

Here’s the chart in jpg form. What’s interesting is the categories show the wool that’s being pulled over our eyes.

At the beginning of May, that pneumonia deaths column was listed as pneumonia with influenza deaths. . . Now influenza has a separate column all by its lonesome. . . And it was always much larger than the pneumonia with Covid-19 column numbers. Note that the combined totals in the last column don’t ever add up. When I found this chart in the fIrst week of May, the CDC was revising their COVID19 death count downward, but the number on their homepage didn’t change, just kept going up. On THIS page and chart, it was adjusted downward. The number on the front page was essentially the COMBINED COVID19 plus influenza pneumonia and deaths from other causes number! It’s still that way. It was inflated by about 25% and still is!

Except lifting the lockdowns hasn’t caused the increase and we are over 4 weeks out in florida and georgia. It is unrealistic to expect zero new cases and looking at new cases alone is more a measure of the tests being done than the new infection rate. Please feel free to hide in your basement until there are no new cases. With an infection that will settle into an endemic rate that should be never. Leave the rest of us alone to go on with life

You fearmngers keep moving the goalposts. First it was flatten the curve and keep the healthcare system from being overwhelmed. The healthcare system was not overwhelmed and many hospitals sit empty and are furloughing or terminating employees (and likely the lockdown had nothing to do with that). With the stated goal reached now you want no new cases. Way to.move the goalposts WAY out. Meanwhile more lives are destroyed by the economic and social impacts of this policy than will ever get the virus. I used to think those peddling fear were misguided but well meaning. At this point you all just disgust me.

Given that the CDC thinks the mortality is 0.26%. I guess it’s a risk we will all have to take. Contact tracing? No thanks.

What exactly do you do for a living? You are nothing but a fear monger with a keyboard repeating talking point. Perhaps I have given you too much credit. You tout your research credentials. What, exactly, are they?

I count 9 different posters who have presented you with actual data and you tell us you have a superior handle on research. I will await your response to them and your credentials. However, if my suspicions are correct, we will hear either nothing (your safest choice) or manufactured BS from your less than fertile mind.

Millions of Livelihoods Being Destroyed for NOTHING >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

If author Selwyn Duke thinks that millions of livelihoods are being destroyed for nothing, she is more than one card short of a deck.

Millions of lives are being destroyed to reverse the very success that the Trump administration had created, and the radical left, like Governor Wolf of Pennsylvania, plan to use their “emergency powers” to make these millions dependent on government in order to ensure the radical left’s conversion of America into a totalitarian state, where the Bill of Rights and the Constitution are interpreted out of existence with hidden meanings and penumbras, instead of the plain language of our ancestors.

No. Millions of livelihoods are being destroyed for a very specific purpose , following Rules for Radicals of Saul Alinsky’s ideology.

Do not forget it.

Then just maybe we will be able to reach deep enough into the American soul to actually beat the living tar out of these leftists at the ballot box.

No, two periods is 10 days. The incubation period is 2-14 days but the average is 4.6-5 days. You use the average for using r0 and waves.

I am using the length of the longest determined incubation period for Covid-19 as the baseline. The standard that two incubation periods must pass before a disease is considered eradicated is based on the longest known incubation period, not the average. This is the standard that is used to determine whether an Ebola or Marburg outbreak is finished.

We’ve never needed any of that before.

Never needed any of what before?

I'm the type of woman who spent a career in various capacities in the public health arena. The criteria I said for the control of an infectious disease is the standard; two incubation periods must pass without any new cases for a disease to be considered successfully eradicated. That is 28 days for Covid-19.

And I’ll add another one... Shouldn’t prisoners be among the easiest of our population on which to enforce social distancing?

We’re going to have to face the fact that someone wanted prisoners released on society. There’s a reason behind that madness.

When you are measuring cycles, you use the average, not the longest. If 10,000,000 people have 5 days and 1 person has 14 days, is 5 days the cycle or 20? The average in every country has been 4-5 days, which means 2 cycles is a bit over a week. 4 weeks would be 5-6 cycles. You don’t use outliers for modeling the average

1. The lock downs kept more people sequestered together for more days and hours a day, yet someone in the group did have to go out now and then.

2. Getting an illness causing infection from a corona virus = infection X time - in other words, sustained contact over some time till the viral load acquired is sustainable in the infected person.

3. Infections that cause illness are not random passing in the street events that last but a few seconds.

4. Anecdotal information: A survey of NYC hospitalized Wuhan Virus patients found 66% of them were NOT from the “essential” workers allowed to go to work every day, allowed to interact with their fellow employees every day, eating lunch out of the home every day, and riding the mass transit system every day. No, that 66% were folks who said they had been staying at home. And of all the self-identified groups in the survey, that 66% was the single largest group.

5. If YOU are sick, stay in. If you are not, then GET OUT.

I have repeatedly said the problem now is the state governor-dictators are trying to move the goal posts.

Even the “flattening the curve” meme was not the goal. Flattening the curve was only what they looked at as a means to a(the) goal. The real goal was a health care system that was not overwhelmed by Wuhan Virus cases.

THAT has already been accomplished. Moving the goal posts now to “contact tracing” and “testing” goals has nothing to do with anything essential. America’s health care system is now managing our Wuhan Virus cases without being overwhelmed - “mission accomplished”.

Extending ANY economic restrictions now has nothing to do with ANYTHING other than keeping controls for the sake of keeping controls.

“Some caution is in order here: a disease outbreak is not considered controlled until 2 incubation periods have passed without any new cases.”

B.S. A disease outbreak is sufficiently controlled when the healthcare system is not overwhelmed by it, death rates are coming down, and the medical care knowledge of managing it is maturing with increased success - all of which we have obtained. The rest of the course of it will run itself out, lock downs or no lock downs.

“Lifting the lock-downs before robust contact tracing and testing programs are in place can cause the virus to pick right back up on its original spread.”

Is not happening without “robust” contact tracing in place.

Now then, when MIGHT the Wuhan Virus pick back up again - lock downs or no lock downs, contact tracing or no contact tracing? In the fall. Then again the corona viruses do not behave so much seasonally as do the influenza viruses.

This is not a “Zombie” disease where everyone who is touched, dies.

But Americans have been fed so many zombie movies by Hollywood in recent years that it is no surprise people are thinking this way. More Americans know how to kill zombies than know how to do basic statistical analysis.
