San Francisco firefighters responded to a four-alarm fire at a warehouse on Pier 45 at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco on Saturday morning
Crews will have a difficult time putting out the flames as stronger winds are set to ramp up as the day progresses.
A total of 145 firefighters responded to the scene, located at Taylor and Jones streets after the fire erupted sometime before 4:40 a.m. A quarter of the pier has "been lost to the flames," SFFD officials said, while the warehouse, where the fire was sparked, "is a “total loss,” KGO-TV reported.
the airport is not extremely close in proximity to Pier 45 where the fire erupted,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said.
With stronger gusts of wind on the way, the pier is in danger of further damage.
“It will be windy this afternoon at fisherman's wharf, gusts to 30 mph possible,” Pydynowski said.

That looks bad. Pier 45 is a disgusting homeless haven. I used to go out on the Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O’Brien for the 4th of July and Blue Angles shows, as well as visiting Fisherman’s Wharf and the surrounding areas. The Pier 45 parking structure was filled with homeless and litterally smelled like a pit toilet. The homeless are everywhere. I’ve had several run ins with homeless there, one that that got physical. Needless to say, I don’t go there any more unless it’s just a quick stop at the nearby Buena Vista Cafe (the Irish Coffee is worth the risk).
