That looks bad. Pier 45 is a disgusting homeless haven. I used to go out on the Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O’Brien for the 4th of July and Blue Angles shows, as well as visiting Fisherman’s Wharf and the surrounding areas. The Pier 45 parking structure was filled with homeless and litterally smelled like a pit toilet. The homeless are everywhere. I’ve had several run ins with homeless there, one that that got physical. Needless to say, I don’t go there any more unless it’s just a quick stop at the nearby Buena Vista Cafe (the Irish Coffee is worth the risk).
Its got the Musee Mechanique, which is charming.
Thats toward the city end of the pier.
And the support infrastructure for the O’Brien and Pampanito on the West half of the Pier - its split by a through road. It would be bad if those places burned.
The restaurants and etc. are replaceable.
I was just there this January. We have been there dozens of times, when we lived there for 36 years. We still have the old house near City College.
You made me thirsty and missing that view!!!
Enjoyed the city when my husband worked half time in CA for ten years. Loved walking around everywhere and actually walked a 24.6 miles there one day! Great memories. Like you, it’s lost its charm with drugs and homeless everywhere. So many great restaurants. Pelosi can have her city.
