When I retired from the Navy in 1983 you could tell rank and service. Who are these people behind Trump? It’s like the military is ashamed to show their rank. How do enlisted men know who to salute?
I would quibble with Pat on this point. We seem to have elected some Muslims to Congress. I think these people are definitely trying to change us.
I'd like to see full withdrawal from the Middle East. I'd also like to see Islam outlawed in the US. I'm hoping I get at least one of these things.
In WWII, we were willing to destroy the underlying ideology.
The U.S. doesn’t win wars anymore because we don’t fight to defeat nations. Instead, in all of these cases after WW2 we simply take one side in a civil war. That’s never been a good idea, and it sure as hell isn’t in America’s best interests to get involved in these dumps.
Wanna bet our relentless WWII military, backed by an angry nation could have wiped out Afghanistan? The problem is that we have too much respect for other cultures now. You can’t destroy a culture while being careful not to offend it.
It’s like trying to wipe out nazi Germany while not hurting anyone innocent, and deciding to leave the nazi party in power with new leaders.
They aren’t police, they are soldiers. It isn’t a police action when you have jet fighters overhead.

“Police action” is a defined term. Not about the police per se but a military action against an insurgence (no declaration of war).
