Last week Mr. Biden made a huge concession to the man he defeated, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and the Vermont socialists wing of the Democratic Party. The two men announced six unity task forces to explore possible policy initiatives on climate change, criminal justice, the economy, education, health care and immigration. Mr. Biden selected five members for each group and Mr. Sanders three; both men named a co-chairman for each committee.
The two of them portrayed this as an effort to unify Democrats, which Mr. Biden called key to defeating Donald Trump. He said the task forces will be essential to identifying ways to build on our progress and transform our countrya hallmark phrase of his partys left wing. In turn, Mr. Sanders stressed the importance of soliciting the best ideas so Democrats can create an agenda that the working class of this country desperately needs.
The two working together wasnt a complete surprise. In a joint statement last month they committed to ensuring Sanders supporters and delegate candidates were represented at the Democratic convention both on the floor and in committees. Whats unusual is how far this latest move goes. The task forces will write Mr. Bidens policy agenda for the election.
Its an unwise concession by the former vice president, which could lead to months of intrigue and posturing. Followers of Mr. Sanders will pressure Mr. Biden to adopt their views, policies and radical sensibilities.
These working groups could sow discord if Mr. Biden doesnt shift far enough to the left. Before Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agreed to be a co-chairman of the climate task force, she consulted with the Climate Justice community and pledged to be fully accountable to them and the larger advocacy community during this process, according to a spokeswoman.

Bernie has had his shot. Twice. His own party stabbed him in the back. Twice. Biden will be replaced by somebody, but it won’t be Bernie.
The quest is to concoct compromises that can be force fed to the masses.
The reality of democrat party unity is far from existence
As I’ve said many times, there wouldn’t have been a dime’s worth of difference between a Bernie Presidency and a Biden Presidency, the same people would be calling the shots.
Biden/Bernie 2020
or BB2020
“Text Joevessel23skidoo”
Jill Biden, his wife, controls Joe. Been that way for quite awhile. She is the one behind the scenes with the real power. She would be the puppet master if he makes it into the oval office. She is also the reason he hasn’t dropped out “for health reasons.”
A time will come when Biden is “ordered” to drop out. What will they give Jill in return? It needs to be comparable to the brass ring she sees in sight.
Biden is just a place holder. He will dropmout, when they settle on his replacement. Bernie kept his delegates, so that’s another giant obstacle to overcome first. Bernie Bros would riot if they took it away from him without his Blessing.
Quite the quandry.
‘Biden will be replaced by somebody...’
until yesterday I thought that as well; but now, unless Joe dies, he will remain the candidate...Biden doesn’t mean anything in reality, he is just a tool, like an old bottlecap opener, used to remove an opponent and then cast back into whatever drawer happens to be near at hand...
Bozo the Clown would be allowed to run by the dems; they don’t have to have enthusiasm for an irrelevant candidate, because their energy is tied up in dumping Trump...Joe can be ushered out at any time after he does his job (assuming he does) and it appears he’ll be completely on board with that...
Say what you will about Bernie, but imagine an Independent who became a Republican every election year to campaign as a Republican (with all of the benefits and the access that campaigning as a candidate for one of the two major parties offers); the Republican Party (and its rank and file) would be well within its rights to reject him or her.
Keep in mind that after losing the primary in 2016, Sanders went back to being an Independent; he became a Democrat again for the 2020 campaign. How convenient. And the Democrat rank and file was expected to jettison their more moderate positions for this guy; it was never going to happen.
Biden will not drop out in my opinion.
Let’s not worry our Democratic counterparts until he’s the official Democratic candidate.
Joe supports every Sanders proposal except Medicaid for all as far as I know.
Hopefully, they degenerate into warring factions, finishing each other off. That would be a great blessing for civil and lawful society. Leftists are the chancre that won’t heal.
Edith Wilson did Woodrow Wilson’s job.
I’m not sure the VP (Amy/Hillary) will play ball with Jill though when Amendment XXV Section 4 would be so useful.
Buying votes is something nearly all politicians tend to agree on.
