Today, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and commissioners of Harris County appointed Texas Democratic Party Finance Chair Chris Hollins as Harris County Clerk.
The county clerk is the countys chief election officer and is responsible for administering elections in Harris County, the third-largest county in the country.
Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa and Vice Chair Dr. Carla Brailey issued the following statement:
The Texas Democratic Party is proud Chris Hollins will take the next step in his commitment to public service and the people of Texas.
Chris will build on the progress started by Dr. Diane Trautman and will be a true leader for the Harris County Clerks office, defending the right to participate in our democracy for all voters.
There is nothing more important than the sanctity of the vote. With so much at stake this year, Harris County voters will have a proven leader who is ready to fight for their right to fair, accessible, and safe elections.
Texas Democratic Party Finance Chair Chris Hollins issued the following statement:
I am honored to serve as the next Harris County Clerk and to provide vital services to the residents of Harris County during this challenging time. I cannot thank Dr. Trautman enough for her service to Harris County, and I look forward to working with her talented staff.
This November, our office will administer the most consequential election of our lifetime amid a global health pandemic. The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy, and I will work tirelessly to ensure that Harris County residents can exercise that right safely, conveniently, and with the peace of mind that their vote will be counted.
This represents a SERIOUS conflict of interest and this partisan decision SHOULD NOT STAND.
The previous clerk cites CV19 fears as her reason for stepping down. I think it’s really because she doesn’t want to defend her decision to try to expand Harris County’s absentee ballot at the state court level.
Crooks one and all
There are 2 Republicans and 3 Democrats on the commissioners’ court and they vote along party lines.
Last year they tried to hike taxes and the 2 Republicans were absent to block the vote. Can they do that on these other matters or was that because of the procedures of taxation particular to the Texas Constitution?
I had heard this story mentioned earlier today on KTRH 740am radio at a news break. The announced mentioned’s Chris’ former post as DNC finance chair.
CBS Channel 11 KHOU did NOT disclose this affiliation.
Lies by omission are lies.
Didnt I read somewhere that a Texas Court found that everybody could get mail in ballots this year?
It is unconstitutional an Paxton is going to appeal the actions of that Democrat judge.
If the risk of CV19 is a disability then so is the Flu.
And not one of those absentee voters better be shopping for groceries. Too risky.
It’s bullsh!t.
By population, in the State, it places first.
Estimates of the Total Populations of Counties and Places in Texas for July 1, 2018 and January 1, 2019 (over 4 million - compared to Dallas, Tarrant and Bexar at over 2 million each)
New census data: Harris County is the third largest county in the US, but how does its growth compare to other large Texas counties? (concise info)
It's 5th in the State in area...texas county largest
If you want corruption to win a race Harris county is the place to be.
If you want corruption to win a race Harris county is the place to be.
I think that’s a given. Soros and other financiers have flooded the country with their chosen ones and Harris County has gone to crap along with the city of Houston! Only God can deliver us from this and bring sanity back. Inmates running the streets after releases killing and maiming.....County Judge, a mere child with NO EXPERIENCE, running the County Court like a tyrant and has been called down more than once...getting voters especially Hispanics to pull straight Demonrat Ticket will get you the likes of Hildago and the DA’s office and court system give the worst of criminals a slap on the wrist and low bails and we know what happens then. This is Demonrat Rule folks. I thought I’d never see this in my lifetime........my hometown has gone down the crapper.....
Wasn't some communist who said something to the effect of :
"It doesn't matter how they vote; .. what matters is WHO counts the votes"
From what Ive heard she has some habits that may drain her and is ill suited for the required energy of that job and certainly for a Soros operation
Will Paxton act in your opinion?
And you expected what from the new home of ACORN?
Purportedly Stalin said it.
