His father was Kenyan and his mother was American, yet, he's considered an American.

His Kenyan father was black but his American mother was white, but he's considered black.

IIRC, this apparently was something of an issue early on in his candidacy for President. Given the background mentioned in my post (growing up in white country club settings in Hawaii), black supporters of Hillary thought he was not at all genuine concerning racial identity issues.
