Well over half of all documented coronavirus deaths in the United States have occurred in just five states, a statistic which mirrors the heavily concentrated and localized nature of COVID-19 outbreaks in several other countries.
Of the nearly 80,000 deaths from the virus in this country as of Saturday afternoon, nearly 48,700, or about 60 percent, had occurred in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
New York remains the hardest-hit state of any in the country by far, having logged nearly 27,000 deaths as of Saturday afternoon. The next-hardest-hit state, New Jersey, had recorded over 9,100.
The question then is, where was the response in 57-58 comparative to COVID-19 in proportion to its threat? Yes, the 116,000 deaths in America to the Asian flu was for the whole year, yet even if we reach about 200,000 deaths (we pray not) for COVID-19 then the extremely restrictive all-ages response to COVID-19 simply has no precedent in American history, except to a degree with the far more deadly (550,000 to 675,000 Americans, or 0.66% of the population) 1918 flu.
And yet we read ,
This is how the Pasadena Merchants and Standard-Murphys played a game in the Southern California Winter League on January 26, 1919. The influenza epidemic that had started the previous year was spreading, and California was concerned. Pasadena had started requiring residents to wear masks in public; on the first day that the rule went into effect, the city made 60 arrests to show that the new law was for real. So how does a baseball team operate under these regulations? Simple: Just make everyone wear a mask. Per the Los Angeles Times, even when sliding for bases, the runners managed to keep the cloth over their noses and mouths.
This was not how most baseball teams addressed the flu. While the MLB season was cut a few weeks short in 1918, that was due less to the outbreak and more to World War I, and it started back on schedule in 1919. But MLB went without any formal protocol about how to handle the outbreak, with no serious talk of canceled games or empty stadiums, and baseball went on, even as the illness came for some of its key figures...
And as for the 1919 Pasadena Merchants, they appear to be an outlier. While flu masks were common during the outbreak of 1918, theres not much record of other baseball teams with them, and Pasadena received national press for the novelty of the masked ballgame. Where would we be without CA and NY in the United States?
Not serious. Just askin’ for a friend.
How many lives would have been save if...?
Media won’t allow that question to Dem Governors.
And most have been in nursing homes in the majority of these states.
If only we had built walls around them earlier.
We could throw masks over the wall to them and go about our business.
I believe that all of those 5 states have democrat governors?
Adding to your point:
The US population today is approximately double what it was in 1957-58.
332M today
151M in 1950
179M in 1960.
So if growing at an even rate during the decade, that would make 1957 approx. 170M
cuomo should literally be stripped, tarred and feathered.
But remember: “we’re NY strong. We got through SARS!” and “go to the movies, ride the subway, go to the parade!”
/ sarc on mayor Wilhelm
back in the 50s the globalists were much weaker and the general population was better educated and wouldn’t take this kind of shiite
also the country was 90% white and waaaay too many white guys who had military experience and still in fighting shape

I’ve noticed a difference between the two largest Indian tribes in the US, the Navajo and Cherokee tribes.
The Navajo tribe is being hit hard, 2373 cases and with 96 deaths.
The Cherokee health services out of Tahlequah, report 72 cases and 3 deaths.
Non Indians have been hit hard as Delaware County reported 16 deaths, most in a nursing home in Grove, and in Adair County, 3 deaths. I am not sure if one of those deaths took place in Washington county, Ar as reports said the person was from Oklahoma.
1957 - 171,984,130. 1958 - 174,881,904
172,000.00 x 2 = 344,000.00
As said, "approximately double."
The USA is Number 1 in cases.
Spain is Number 2.
New York has more cases than Spain.
*boom*
Exactly
Democrats have been running and ruining New York for 50 years. Now the are reaping what they sowed.
