San Francisco officials deny direct involvement in a controversial program, funded by private sources, that provides free alcohol, cannabis, and cigarettes to homeless people living in the citys hotels during the Covid-19 outbreak. After news about the special deliveries was leaked and caused embarrassment on social media, the citys Department of Public Health issued a statement claiming that rumors that guests of San Franciscos alternative housing program are receiving taxpayer-funded deliveries of alcohol, cannabis and tobacco are false.
Except theyre not false. DPH, which administers and oversees the program, is staffed by city workers, including doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, and security personnel. The department manages, stores, and distributes the substances. Employee time is involved. Thus, the program is financed by taxpayers, even if an outside group provides some of the funding. According to DPH spokesperson Jenna Lane, the philanthropists who helped purchase the substances wish to remain anonymous.
The programs primary purpose is to keep homeless people, the majority of whom are addicts, out of harms way during the pandemic. By getting their substance of choice delivered, the thinking goes, the guests may be more apt to remain in their government-funded rooms. Another purpose of the program is to protect the public against the spread of coronavirus. The city doesnt want homeless people who should be staying in their rooms roaming the neighborhood in search of the substances, potentially infecting others.

What? No hookers?
This is unbelievable and could not be happening... ‘cept it is... and there are some who have no sense and led right into the pit of stupidity.
Still.. it IS unbelievable!!! “leaders” can’t be that far gone!!
Hopefully this kind of thing will wakeup the voters in california to the fact that their lefty leaders don’t have the hard-working folks in that state best interest at heart.
Do you have to be a resident, or do you just show up and check in?
Asking for a brother in law...
Forget it Jake...it’s california

I would imagine most homeless couldn’t prove residency...but that’s just a guess
Government incompetence. That's why they are saying it is false. Where's the crack and smack? Can't the government do anything right?
Well, if you don’t have to show some history, like prior contact with social services... this is going to be a real dirtbag magnet.
I figure it’s only a matter of time before they do this on a mass scale for people deemed to be “non-productive”. A big compound with booze, drugs and videogames. It won’t go well, but someone is going to get the bright idea that people on public assistance should all get to live on Pleasure Island.
And California wonders why it’s called a S*** hole state.
It is insanity like this that further reassures me that ALL LIB/Leftists are mentally ill. What freakin’ lunatics!
LOL. That was my thought also. If we’re going to have a party hookers would be a nice addition.
What do you expect from a state that elects a political Ho to the Senate?
Who is paying for the hotel rooms?
Who is going to pay for all the repair and maintenance need of the hotels after this group of guests departs?
As I understand it San Diego is a mecca for homelessness. With this, that illustrious title may migrate to San Fran.
Must make sure they stay down and out
WHAT A COUNTRY....free booze, pot, cigs...
