Year-over-year, global beef trade is expected to decline 2 percent as world economic growth is negatively impacted by COVID-19.
The global pork production forecast is lowered by 2 percent to 94.3 million tons on lowered expectations for China where the industry struggles to recover from African swine fever (ASF).
The forecast for global chicken meat production is revised 2 percent lower to 100.5 million tons as gains in China fail to offset lowered production forecasts for all major producers.
Who is he and what is his message?
Record number of corn acres planted this spring. That means abundant cheap animal feed.
Poultry production can ramp up in 7 or so weeks. Hog production in 6 or so months.
Meanwhile, there are stockpiles of frozen meat that are being monitored so producers know when it is a good time to ramp up production.

Food producers across this country are plowing under vegetable crops. Millions of chickens have been euthanized and pigs have been aborted, eliminating feeder pigs. Vast amounts of milk have been thrown down the drain. Just a few weeks ago, we imported beef from Namibia, Africa, at the same time that US cattle ranchers are being asked to prepare to euthanize their herds.
Shad Sullivan spoke on the other video about how beef production in the US is centralized in just four firms, two of them owned by two Brazilian guys who went to prison on corruption charges. In the 1970s, we used to have something like 800 firms in the country.
Until 2015, beef sold in stores had a country of origin label. It’s important because US beef has to meet higher quality standards than that of, say, Namibia. Mr. Sullivan wants you to go to https://usabeef.org and sign a petition to restore mandatory country of origin labeling. (The petition is a small red rectangle on the right hand side of the page.). He also wants you to get in touch with your elected officials about country of origin labelling.
