After spending about two days in jail and receiving support from state leaders and residents, Dallas salon owner Shelley Luther has been released from custody.
On Thursday, Luther received help from the governor and the Supreme Court of Texas when it came to her release. She had been jailed since Tuesday.
When she walked out of the jail, she was met with a large crowd of supporters with signs in hands congratulating her on her release.
Im a little overwhelmed I just want to thank all of you who I just barely met and now youre all my friends. You mean so much to me. Thank you so, so much, Luther said to her supporters outside of the building.
She said she would have more to say after she has time to gather her thoughts from being released.
Dallas judge Eric Moye on Tuesday found her to be in contempt of court when she refused to apologize for defying stay-at-home orders and reopening Salon A La Mode nearly two weeks ago. She was sentenced to seven days in jail.
This set off a firestorm of support from leaders, activists and residents who believed she should not have received jail time for reopening her business even as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

And a half million dollars richer. I hope she puts a lot of that in the campaign against that judge.
Her sponsor must have thought a half a million dollars was shooting for the moon at the time. I think Shelly could have easily hit a million if he didn't set that limit.
The leftist comments to this article are fascinating. I don’t know how all these patriotic war veterans can live with themselves, knowing that they are “endangering the community” every time they get in a car and drive on the road.
District Court Judge Eric Moyé is running for re-election in Dallas County this November. Hopefully the “good” people of Dallas County will show him the door and let it hit him in the A$$ on the way out.
I just hope there are enough “good” people in Dallas county to vote him out of office.
great news. support the protesters. it works.
It was originally set at $100,000
Because you reach the goal, it doesn’t mean that donations can’t keep coming in.
Yay but but all the folks responsible for the violating the Constitutions are now frandstanding as her savior.
I bet the democrats will sue her for discrimination on some bogus charge like the bakery.
That woman has more guts and courage of her convictions than most of our GOP politicians. She has the same can do attitude as Governor Abbott and President Trump. The judge defines the left in America today.
The organizer has currently disabled new donations to this fundraiser.

Oh okay. I didn’t pick up on it originally. I was sort of going by this from the fund page like it was a limit once 500,000 was reached:
“The organizer has currently disabled new donations to this fundraiser.”
Wonder why he would kill a good thing?
Would look better if she spread it among her workers....
I agree, but the judge needs some consequences. I made a donation to her fund and I would be pleased if half or so went to running the judge out of office.

I’m not even sure what can be done against the judge...too many are “tenured” and would have to do a “Charlie Manson” before any action could be taken.
