CARACAS, Venezuela — President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the United States had nothing to do with an alleged incursion into Venezuela that landed two U.S. citizens behind bars in the crisis-stricken South American nation.
Trump said he had just learned of the detention of the pair, accused by Venezuela of being mercenaries. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said they were part of an operation to kill him that was backed by neighboring Colombia and the United States.
“Whatever it is, we’ll let you know,” Trump told reporters in Washington before departing from the White House to Arizona. “But it has nothing to do with our government.”
Authorities in Venezuela identified the two men as Luke Denman and Airan Berry, both former U.S. special forces soldiers associated with the Florida-based private security firm Silvercorp USA.

What a shame they failed.
That attempted coup happened months and months ago. I was wondering why is the capture of two Americans being announced just now? If they were connected, seems they would have left as soon as failure of the project became clear, not eight months later.

Led from afar by a Canadian-born Green Beret who boasts of several medals and who was at one point in trouble with the military for a $62,000 discrepancy- a guy with a French name and a company in Florida that has a name SilvercorpUSA, similar to that of a Chinese mining company named Silvercorp... and who reportedly was in on it with a guy currently who turned himself in and is sitting in a US Prison on narcotics smuggling charges.
Second coup I think... they got nailed trying to conduct a half baked amphibious assault on Caracas this week.
Interesting times we live in... Canada’s Trudeau looks like Fidel Castro’s love Child and a Canadian born US Green Beret tries to arrange an invasion of Venezuela only to be foiled by his own stupidity and Maduro’s Cuban staffed Intel agencies.
If the US was in on it, Maduro would be behind bars by now or just a grease spot somewhere.

Now, can anybody chime-in and tell me what special operations soldier goes on a clandestine mission, mercenary or not, carrying a passport?
Nah - they thought they would make a lot of money for scratching the itch that says they gotta go try to kill something because when they were active duty, they found they liked it....and the itch kept returning...
