Thousands of desperate migrants are trapped in limbo and even at risk of death without food, water or shelter in scorching deserts and at sea, as governments close off borders and ports amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Migrants have been dropped by the truckload in the Sahara Desert or bused to Mexico’s desolate border with Guatemala and beyond. They are drifting in the Mediterranean Sea after European and Libyan authorities declared their ports unsafe.
Many governments have declared emergencies, saying a public health crisis like the coronavirus pandemic requires extraordinary measures. However, these measures are just the latest efforts by governments to clamp down on migrants, despite human rights laws.
“They just dumped us,” said Fanny Jacqueline Ortiz, a 37-year-old Honduran travelling with her two daughters, aged 3 and 12.
Ortiz reached the U.S., but American authorities expelled her to Mexico. The Mexican government in turn abandoned the family on March 26 at the lonely El Ceib o border crossing with Guatemala. Ortiz and other migrants on the two-bus convoy were told to avoid the Guatemalan soldiers guarding the border, which was closed due to the pandemic.
“They told us to go around through the mountains, and we slept in the woods,” she recalled.
Over the next few weeks, an activist helped Ortiz and others in her group of 20 find a ride to the next border, in Honduras.
In the United States, Trump is using a little-known 1944 public health law to set aside decades-old American immigration law. For the first time since the U.S. asylum system was created in 1980, Mexicans and Central Americans who cross the border illegally no longer even get the chance to apply for asylum. Instead, they are whisked to the nearest border crossing and returned to Mexico within hours; asylum-seekers at official crossings are also blocked.

Lillian looks a little bit too chubby to be a starving refugee.
If Americans were having to leave here for safety, how would WE be treated elsewhere? I could think of more useful ways to die.
Nobody crossing from Mexico is legally eligible for asylum anyway.
Perhaps these criminals should stay home instead of invading our countries. Deport all illegals. Lock out new “migrants”. No exceptions.

We are in a lifeboat already over the limit yet there are still people in the water, what do you do?
Someone falls into a river, they can not swim, you are not trained in life saving nor are you a very good swimmer... what do you do?
A mob is attacking a stranger, you do not have a weapon nor are you trained to fight... what do you do?
Life is full of bad choices. Some choices are easy and some are fatal.
The United States does not have the capability to absorb every individual that wants to move here.
This is especially true when those coming into the country illegally do not share our history our culture our language our values and instead retain their countries culture, language and values. Segregating themselves into areas and slowly taking over.
So while I may feel sympathy on an individual basis I have none for those that refuse to stay and make their country great again. If it is so bad they have to leave then they should do what many have done before..revolt against their oppressors.
Doesn’t look like anybody’s sharing clean-up duties at the shared shelter.
“Migrants” my ass. Invaders is what they are. They’re coming here to rob the taxpayers and what’s far worse change the nature of the country from a somewhat free to a totalitarian welfare state. If they all dropped dead I wouldn’t shed a single tear.
Illegal immigrants to the US have already proven that they don't have the will, and they have already diluted the resolve of many that is required to take back our freedoms and liberties. This is what happens when people don't assimilate and current citizens bend their values and traditions to accommodate.

Mankind’s will to fight has changed allot in the last 100+ years. Now they tend to run rather than fight. From the numbers I’ve seen only about 8% of us are willing to take that step, 92% would rather run or have somebody fight for them.
I don’t know, but maybe mass migrations of flotsam from third-world countries during a global pandemic are a bad idea.

She’s probably fat because of a carbohydrate heavy diet of rice, corn, and beans. The body stores excess carbohydrates as fat, and because carbohydrates lack enough essential nutrients, people have to eat more.
“Migrants”? These people are illegal alien invaders of each country they enter. Go home, you bums! Make your home country better through hard work and sacrifice.
