A little vitamin C and vitamin D3 will probably do it for most people.

I should add that I’m not a doctor, so everyone should consult professional care and decide for themselves.

But individual floating virus fomites are not normally found outside of a medical lab. The virus you need to be concerned about is the virus in relatively large droplets spewed out during sneezing and coughing.

“My understanding is that the mask is not to prevent the wearer from getting the virus but to prevent giving it.”

That’s right. To keep virus from falling on surfaces that other people touch which leads to entry via mouth or nose or eyes from the hand.

Masks can collect the virus and bacteria over time.

People calling the surgeon general stupid have track records of saying hysterical ludicrous things.

One even claimed there would be several hundred million infected by March 1st.

No. Just like people who drive more aggressively because of seat belts, air bags, better brakes, and better handling vehicles, people with masks will take risks they normally would not take and cotton masks do absolutely nothing to protect you. And, as the article states, people wearing their masks touch their faces more. Also, if you do not know how to remove protective equipment, you are likely contaminating yourself doing so.

Most important lie that anyone had to make on quite a while. He did the right thing to save the lives of our medical staff.

People with seasonal allergies should wear masks. If they unknowingly have the virus, unmasked sneezing will spread it. If they don’t have it, unmasked sneezing will scare the carp out of those around them.

(Note: autocorrect didn’t like the other four letter word that starts with C).

One of the doctors I pay attention to tried to show how wearing a mask (unless it’s an N95 which, I believe, only blocks 95%, thus the name) isn’t doing much good - it’s mostly a ‘mental’ thing, makes people feel better wearing them.

The example he gave ... if you scaled a corona virus up to 1inch x 1 inch and scaled the holes in a bandana, T-shirt, some of the other non-N95 masks to an equivalent scale to the virus, the hole would be 83 feet x 83 feet. How many 1” x 1” ‘viruses’ could fit through that hole? More than a few ....

That sounds cool. It would great to get some kind of scientific confirmation of what the numbers actually are.

He has access to all of their medical records so he knows exactly how stupid they are. Probly just playing to the majority.

Good points. Mask wearing is a practical problem. The reality is that very few people have ever had to wear a mask for many hours.
.................
Without a check valve, glasses fog up, now we’re touching our face.
............
They get hot, now we’re touching our face.
...............
They itch, now we’re touching our face.
..............
Straps behind the ear really hurt after a while, now we’re touching our face.
...............
People to have to communicate, can’t do so often without pulling up or down on their mask, now we’re touching our face.
...............
Anybody see a pattern here?

I have not worn a mask. But I broke my toe and went to get it X-rayed and a mask was a requirement. So I’m sitting there watching all the masked people in the place do nothing but fiddle with them. Constantly readjust them. Pull them down to talk and then put them back up. If there was corona virus in the place they had definitely put it all over the place. They all touched their faces many more times than they would have without a mask

Thank you for mentioning this. Basically if light shines through your mask, the virus can easily get through as well.

A non-fit tested N95 mask ABSOLUTELY increases your risk (in a contaminated atmosphere), this has been studied to death.

Small leaks create suction that speeds the flow of small particles which are vacuumed up to the space between your face and the mask, where they remain until you inhale them.

We don’t wear those things ... just avoid crowded spaces instead.
