The ‘Bombshell’ That Wasn’t? Lawyers Say the FBI’s Tactics in Michael Flynn Case Were ‘Routine’

Even Comey said on video, that it wasn’t a routine interview, and he explained how one would normally get an interview with someone working in the White House by calling the White House Legal Office to set up an appointment. He admitted that because the Administration was in its first days, that it made it easier for the FBI to take advantage of that, and deliberately manipulate the situation. Bill Priestap’s meeting notes prove that the plan to get Flynn was premeditated. The people in the meeting just weren’t sure what the desired end result needed to be. That decision came from someone higher up.

"Of course the Russian ambassador's phone was tapped."

It would be interesting to know when that specific tap was put in place. But then Obama tapped just about everybody in the world during his Administration.

"Did you ever notice that when far left news organizations..."

These lefty rags are pushing the premise that Priestap's meeting notes "show that the FBI was talking about how to conduct the Flynn investigation." No mention of what the notes actually show...the premeditated plan to trap him.

Not just the FBI, but every police department in the country. If they question you, best to assume everything they say is a lie, and every question they ask is a trap.

Sir, do you know how fast you were going?

If you say yes, you basically confessed to knowingly speeding. If you say no you either spoil you chance to fight the ticket in court or you admit you lied to the cop to claim you later knew your speed.

Now if they set a perjury trap for something as simple as a speeding ticket you know they will do it for anything more important.

Saying this is not meaningful because it is done all the time is like a crooked Democrat’s defense that “This was standard practice. We always take a little for ourselves.” These mutts really believe this. They think being an FBI agent means working to entrap people they don’t like just because they don’t like that person. As an old street cop from the NYPD I can tell you we never really had much respect for these Iowa Corn Farmers’ sons with college degrees and guns. I worked on an investigation that required us to involve them. They showed up with Black “under cover” agents who were wearing suits and ties and driving a van with DC plates. We were in Bedford Stuyvesant. MORONS even used the wrong radio frequency and caused us to jump too soon and ruined the operation.

Bascally, I’d take Jonathan Turley’s view on this and not those of this list of folks involved with the “Lawfare Gang”.

Outrage stacked upon outrage.

First, these tactics come to light.

Then, lawyers say, "We see it all the time."

Then, "What's the big deal?"

We have been discussing such tactics for some years here on FR as individual cases of it have come up. It has been “conventional wisdom” for a long time that one does not talk to any FBI representative without an experienced lawyer present and then it is still best to decline to talk.

I had occasion to look at the Virginia Declaration of Rights recently, largely the work of George Mason in May 1776. It drew on earlier sources such as the English Bill of Rights of 1689 and was the model for the bills of rights adopted by other states and in the US Constitution.

Reading it I was struck by the difference between that time, when Americans really cared about rights, and now, when they only care if someone they like is targeted. Even when everything in the Flynn case is conclusively proven, how many Obama or Clinton voters will care? Probably not more than a handful.

But you see, when the left was protesting and screaming about the NSA-FBI-CIA investigations, that was when THEY as communist dupes were being investigated by a somewhat loyal NSA-FBI-CIA!
Now, it was the social-communists inside the FBI inventing made-up crimes against a loyal American general. THAT their media will ignore, and then complain when anybody dares even print a story about it.

Nearly all the lawyers touting the “routine” line have at least peripheral connections to the Deep State. They’re simply trying to protect their team.

Beria "Show me the man and I'll find the crime" would be proud. Even IF Flynn did something wrong once upon a time, this is not the way police and prosecutors should act.
