American exceptionalism never presumed that we would always be healthy or do the right thing. It was all about how we trust the good Lord to help us to solve problems, admit our mistakes, and enable us to make the best of a bad situation.

I think you touch on the point of why the “dirty Jobs” guy has such a following. Many of the people who work with their hands are industrious and have innate ability to do things. Inventors don’t come out of college except in the area of high mathematics. I’ve always been guided by this: if what you are teaching is so revolutionary, why are you telling me and not doing it yourself? You can also use that phrase when someone is trying to sell you something, like by responding if it is such a good deal, why are you telling me!
Listen to Trump. Comments about ultraviolet light yesterday or heat and its effect. Immediately gets jumped on by the dung beetles like the late night comedy shows like Fallon and Colbert. Two guys whose intellect together is at the level of a fruit fly. He has the ability without training to see it could work. Same for his comment about CHQ. Press still trying to make hay about that while ignoring it seems to work not because he is a doctor but because he can put two and two together and make a projection.
The only good thing that could come from this disaster would be if half the professors in our colleges and 2/3rs of our media get fired and end up digging ditches for a living. Professors, UNKO the term professor during the 20’s was a guy who played the piano in a whore house. Seems appropriate for some of them, eh?

I grew up the son of a rural minister, who grew up in SW Georgia during the Depression. I grew up around dirt farmers of the South. I had a career, trained as an accountant, in bank regulation where my position operated in close contact with executives of large, regional southern banks. These were highly educated, successful people. I had to be on my toes and know what I was talking about when I interacted with them . . . could not BS those folks.
But honestly, some of the wisest people I knew growing up were dirt farmers. They were problem solvers and shoestring engineers. They were self-reliant. They might “seem” ignorant to an Ivy League grad, but they weren’t. They were uneducated, but had more common sense than you could squeeze out of 100,000 snot-nosed Ivy League grads. They blazed their own trails and made their own independent decisions; they didn’t live the life of big city dwellers that mindlessly followed rules set down to promote peace among a tightly packed populations.
Ingenuity and self-reliance resides with country folk, not with city dwellers. They would have perished long ago if they didn’t . . . and city folk would starve if they didn’t. Nothing angers me much more than NYer-style condescension toward country folk. It is not a good idea to criticize that which is not fully understood.
Yup, he’s a real piece of work. I bet he gets paid in the high six figures, or even seven figures.
This virus incident really is a case study of the influence of ideological parasites which diminish what made America exceptional, and the origin of these parasites can be traced to Europe.
The real story is how this great and incredible president completely changed the entire way that the world deals with viruses in pandemics
That only did he wake us up to the fact that China is making all of her medicines -but we found out where the ventilator is ; he used the federal government cleverly , without overdoing it - to get things produced and he got the private and public sectors to work together in an excellent fashion
The media of course has done his damnedest to try to screw him up create false narratives , and take the opposite side of everything he says , but they’re actually looking completely stupid in this whole thing
Fortunately we have this coronavirus task force , and they have their nifty little news conference every day where the Trump administration gets to reinforce the correct narrative of how these heroes all sacrificed !!! and worked together in an incredible manner !!!! and the entire country mobilized to defeat this invisible enemy!!!!
Very important part is this is a worldwide phenomenon it is not over and all these efforts that Americas put forward is going to help other nations greatly
For example now we’re seeing Ecuador with body bags lighting the streets and United States is going to help them with testing ventilation and other equipment
What needs to be kept in mind as much of the world is poor and there is no way that people can keep 6 feet apart or keep nearly as clean as we can hear in the United States of America
In a place like India , Indonesia or Pakistan - where there are hundreds of millions of people , a disease like this could easily get out of control very very very quickly
We are just at the very beginning of this ; and the heroic actions of the United States of America in mobilizing in the manner that we did are going to have great repercussions in saving millions around the world in the very near future!
