The riders are upset that they forgot their masks, right?

I love how testing is the new fixation, as if everyone tested goes on to living in a hermetically sealed bag until the rest of the world’s population either recovers or dies. The only way this virus ends is with immunity, either synthetic or natural.

The US went from zero to over supply for ventalators in about six weeks. We were even faster in the expansion of hospital beds. Within two weeks we will have an over supply of PPE and testing kits. We have 4 cures being verified and two vaccines in testing in the same amout of time.

That sounds pretty exceptional to me.

Dear Calvin,

Facts really do matter, and they also have to be looked at in context - not cherry picked to suit ones bias. The fact is that American manufacturing had left America in droves over the past several decades, under Obama, under Bush, under Clinton. Obama, instead of trying to right that ship, told the American people that those jobs were gone forever - and that we lived in a global economy that was never going to be ‘like it was’.

President Trump has down an exemplary job, actually an amazing job pushing back on the Chinese and on American companies, and bringing manufacturing back to the US. It was always a national security issue to become so reliant on foreign, ahem - Communist manufacturing, and he has been going about the business of stopping that and reversing it. It takes time to do this, and to essentially undo what feckless politicians (I repeat myself) have wrought over decades.

What did the Democrats do to help? Nothing! They made up a phony scandal and tried to impeach him. They were trying to impeach him even as Covid-19 was picking and killing its first victims in Wuhan. Despite having to weather attempt after attempt after attempt of the feckless media (I repeat myself) trying to take him down, President Trump still managed to bring China to the table and hammer out a trade agreement much more favorable to the US than anything his predecessors had come close to obtaining.

Corona/Covid-19 began in Wuhan, and the US and the world were lied to about it by the Chinese government. The Chinese government let 1000s of people leave Wuhan and travel internationally, while simultaneously shutting the people of Wuhan off from the rest of China. We won't even go into the origin of Covid-19 (i.e. emergence in a wet market vs loss of control from the Wuhan Viral Institute). Instead of holding China accountable for the deaths of thousands, and the shutdown of world economies, your compatriots in what passes as ‘the media’ praised their efforts. Then you criticized President Trump for the travel ban - some of you calling him a racist.

Now, I understand that you are what passes for a ‘journalist’ these days, and that so many of you have no expertise in anything other than trying to get bylines or airtime for yourselves. So, it would stand to reason that you would know little to nothing about virology or RNA viruses, RT-PCR testing, transmission of infectious agents, cytokine-induced systemic inflammation, etc. etc.. Thus, maybe you could be excused for the ignorance of your writings and uttering. However, you don't ‘report’ as much as you ‘proclaim’, and your proclamations are so very often based upon ignorance and bias.

RT-PCR based Covid-19 testing, around the globe, has been inaccurate - as will become very obvious as serology-based studies advance. The RT-PCR tests that were being done overseas were yielding poor results, and the CDC produced contaminated kits initially. More than any slam on American exceptionalism, the mistakes of the CDC are just exemplary of government agencies and bureaucracies around the globe. The CDC would likely have been up in arms had the US gone directly to industry to produce RT-PCR testing kits, bypassing them, but if we had we would have ramped up testing faster. As it is, we managed to ramp up testing fairly rapidly. By the way, do you know who, from what country, developed the PCR analysis that is now used around the world?

Calvin, ironically the most glaring example of where American Exceptionalism does not apply, and where we have professionally fallen flat, is in American journalism. Maybe you and your friends should spend more of your time trying to turn that around.

The USA is spending too much on feeding, sheltering, and trying to rehabilitate freeloaders who breed illegitimate children as income, Calvin. LBJ’s Great Society plan to tie the Negroes to the Democrat Party through welfare for a hundred years has cost the nation over $20 Trillion, a very poor investment for everybody but the Democrat Party for the past 50 years.

I'm not on this guy's side, but I want to go back and point out the failure of the CDC to get test kits out in a timely manner. The big problem was that some of the kits were contaminated by the virus. This was caused by people not following disciplined protocols. It set the testing kits back a month. Who are the people who failed? Who trained them? Who are their supervisors? These people need to have an investigation focused on them like a magnifying glass on an ant in 110 degree heat in summer. They can't just say, oh well, we're sorry. They need to be held criminally accountable.

How about that FDA folks. DOJ Clears U.S. Drug Companies To Disribute Hydroxychloroquine to Coronavirus Patients. Yay FDA!

The NIH? Where were they in all this? NIH recommends against combining Hydroxychloroquine with Z-Pak to treat COVID-19. Obama's NIH Sent $3.7M to Wuhan Lab. NIH failed to test coronavirus drugs, studied drunk monkeys, soap operas, and tailgating instead.

In a time of an extreme health crisis, we have seen the incompetency, stupidity, and ineptness of our "trusted" government agencies. We have seen posers, imposters, fakes, blowhards, and liars emerge. The inept performances of these agencies, and these people who have failed does not lie on the shoulders of President Trump. What does lie on his shoulders, is that when this all settles down, is that he needs to launch a scorched earth policy on the recruitment, hiring, and promotions in the Federal Government to prevent the failures from being hired in the first place, and from being promoted to the point that the Government ends up assisting a health crisis, rather than coming up with sensible plans to manage it.

The variety of Democrats that are now in control of the DNC are not Nazis. They are something much, much worse, a sanctimonious bunch, for the most part, who are doing all this “for your own good”. Command-and-control, by whatever name it goes by, is only peripherally related to any concept of “socialism”, a sophistry intended to cloak the true aim of command-and-control regimes.

A small elite holds virtually life-and-death decisions over the great number of the undifferentiated herd, and exploits them, sometimes unmercifully, for their own benefit or perhaps sadistic pleasure. Getting the herd to agree in perpetuity to their own bondage is the ongoing problem, in the eyes of the elite, as this has been the common state of mankind ever since social organizations have risen above the clan or tribal level, and even at that level, the alpha rule over the betas was recognized and sometimes strongly enforced.

From time to time there have been revolutions against this top-down rule of the herd by the elites, and elites get toppled, in a fit of “rule by the people”. These declarations of a republic are for the most part relatively short-lived, only until there is perceived an opportunity for a cunning minority to become once again consolidate into a ruling elite. Once they gain rule, this elite plays “king of the mountain”, resisting all efforts to dislodge their grip on the levers of power.

The American Experiment, embodied in the Declaration of Independence and delineated in the words of the US Constitution, as amended, have served well to draw a baseline of what the ruling elite is or is not permitted to impose upon the people. A means of periodically taking one set of elites out of ruling capacity and at least substituting a different and more idealistic set of elites has worked well up through most of the history of the United States of America. But what has happened in recent years is the roughshod dismissal of the meaning and intent of these founding documents, and once that precedent is set, the ever more loosened interpretation of even the very meaning of words and context.

Civilization itself is on the line, and the failure to overcome these assaults on the bastions of individual freedoms shall only lead to collapse.

Testing for something that is Novel; that didn't exist until a few weeks ago. China didn't release the genome for some time.
We do have a test for fake news now!

I doubt there are many who will figure it out before it's too late.

“Testing for something that is Novel; that didn’t exist until a few weeks ago. China didn’t release the genome for some time.”

Exactly! Plus, how could we trust the sequence they released - without verification.

If nothing else, I’d say the last couple of months have proven beyond any doubt that there is absolutely nothing “exceptional” about a hysterical, fearful, whining suburban Karen. In fact, we should all be warned that this pathetic loser is antithetical to American exceptionalism.

America is exceptional. For business and innovation. Our institutions are sick. Both are true. Government has always been the problem. Monolithic and sluggish, anti-freedom. Our universities and corporations are mammoth and stupid. Also true.

If the media had applied these standards to FDR in 1941, they would have wheeled him out of the White House and shot him on the lawn.

You spelled "The Resistance" wrong.

The people involved in the test kits should be executed for crimes against humanity and for treason.

Change my mind.
