My heart breaks for the food servers out there that depend on tips. They become broke 5 weeks ago. I bet nearly every one of them.
It did, 100%.
But it didn't create the lack of financial resiliency, that was caused by the 3 factors I mentioned.
I am worried for the upcoming election. Hopefully the message that free markets can get us out of this mess, not government.
I bet they all have new cars, big TVs, and a new iPhone.
Pay yourself first.
The key right now is to minimize the burn rate.
We’re managing.
Financial advisors recommend having 6 months worth of savings to live off of in the event of a job loss or some such thing.
My sister was commenting about how many people she knows who are complaining about being out of money and not being able to pay their bills.
Too many people have normalacy bias and live hand to mouth, expecting everything to keep going the way it has been.
Ditto.
You’re projecting your fear of financial loss onto others.
You are obviously terrified of that.
The keeping out of debt is the bigger.
Too many people owe way too much money because of living beyond their means.
I have three part time jobs. One always works from home. Another is essential and doing well. The third totally dried up.
No savings but no debt. Doing well.
Retired. Get the old social security check and retired check. As long as the government does not file for bankruptcy, I figure I will still get paid.
You could park Shoe-mer’s big @$$ in Pee-lousy’s mouth!!!
If grocery stores start getting raided, then there will be a food shortage.
I am talking about people who are broke and cannot go to the grocery store to buy food. The last time I checked grocery stores are not in the business of having their food out for free unless thugs are doing a smash and grab.
Let them eat ice cream 🍧
Since I got out of college, I’ve always had 6 months of savings or more. Even when I was in grade school, I saved my money.
I’ve got two packed freezers full of food but my job opportunities aren’t coming back for a long, long time.
I’ll eat until I can’t afford electricity.
My theme for the rest of my life, however long that will be, is...you can't save a nation by killing it.
The ones who live under the thumb of a Democrat governor are going to be screwed.”
Yep one by one the rat Governors are all the doing the “just another two weeks and we’ll see” BS or just going to the end of May outright. Not one is going to phase 1. Not one. The DNC has sent out the orders.
Pressure canning works well.
I realize there’s an expense to it, buying the canner and jars, but meat keeps for years pressure canned and you never have to worry about the power going out.
I’m sorry to hear you are in that situation.
