'Inslee has no plan': Snohomish Co. Sheriff joins foray questioning stay at home order

EVERETT, Wash. -- Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortney has become the latest sheriff in Washington to voice his displeasure at the state's current "Stay at Home" orders amid the COVID-19 outbreak and reiterated his vow not to enforce it.

Fortney took to Facebook late Monday night in a several-paragraph statement questioning Gov. Jay Inslee's plans amid what Fortney called were "drastic measures as the suspension of constitutional rights."

While acknowledging that the COVID-19 outbreak is "a very serious issue and the appropriate precautions need to be taken to protect our most vulnerable populations," Fortney stated he's concerned about small businesses and why some businesses are allowed to continue to operate as essential business, while others are told to shut down.

"The government should not be picking winners or losers when it comes to being able to make an income for your family," Fortney said.

Forntey finished by declaring his belief that "the impacts of COVID 19 no longer warrant the suspension of our constitutional rights" and that the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office would not be enforcing the order, instead asking constituents to demand elected officials allow all businesses to reopen if they choose.

The only reason I find this interesting is that Snohomish is one of the three counties (of the 39) that technically 'controls' Washington state, the other 2 being King and Whatcom. Usually, whatever those 3 counties want (in the elections, at least), they get...no matter how the rest of the state votes. All due to population and the very liberal tendencies of said counties.

But we in Spokane County did not elect this clymer. That is why we want to break off and join Northern (Free) Idaho. ;^)

It’s where the majority of WA deaths occurred. The rest of the state had three or four per county.

I feel very fortunate to live in a mostly conservative southern state. Good luck my friend.

It was those three counties that voted him in. When Princess Gregoire was elected on the third count, it was King county that came up “magically” with 123 “missing” ballots that put her over the top.

The 3rd controlling county is Pierce, not Whatcom.

Whatcom? You mean “Pierce”? Pierce is almost four times as populous as Whatcom. Even Clark County is more populous than Whatcom.

Nope, I meant Whatcom. Pierce has far more Republicans and conservatives and GENERALLY votes, at worst, moderate. The reason for that is the concentration of military and military retirees.

King, Snohomish, and Whatcom are full of uber-liberals.

(Yes...I know Snohomish has Naval Base Everett, but despite that, the county has a bad tendency to vote very liberal in pretty much every election. Pierce, not so much.)

False...for example Benton, Clark, Spokane and Yakima counties all have double digit deaths.

Yeah send thousands of workers back to Boeing to work in confined spaces building planes that no one will use. Bottom line is profit? Same old song no matter how they pitch it. Let workers die, rinse and repeat.
