Missouri files suit against China for 'enormous' consequences of coronavirus 'deceit'

EXCLUSIVE: Missouri became the first state to file a lawsuit against China on Tuesday, accusing the country of being responsible for the severity of the coronavirus pandemic and seeking damages to make up for "the enormous loss of life, human suffering, and economic turmoil" resulting from the disease.

The suit in the Eastern District of Missouri follows at least seven federal class-action suits that have been filed by private groups, with one filed in Florida saying that China knew "COVID-19 was dangerous and capable of causing a pandemic, yet slowly acted, proverbially put their head in the sand, and/or covered it up in their own economic self-interest."

"The repeated unlawful and unreasonable acts and omissions of" China, the Missouri suit claims, "have been injurious to—and have significantly interfered with—the lives, health, and safety of substantial numbers of Missouri residents, ruining lives and damaging the public order and economy of the State of Missouri."

Another nothingburger lawsuit that will go nowhere. How about we just cut off trade with the Enemy and treat them like we treated Cuba for decades? Good, but for any of these lawsuits to succeed, Congress needs to amend the Foreign Sovereign Immunity Act just like they did when they overrode Obama’s veto in 2016 to allow 9/11 suits against Saudi Arabia.

This pandemic and China’s behavior has given the world a compelling reason to decouple from China. I think many average Joe’s saw many reasons to do this previously, but this (the biggest disaster of modern times) will be impossible to ignore.

I disagree. You are right it goes nowhere but the more exposure the better. MSM/DNC/WHO are doing all they can to keep China from getting the blame for this. They purposely
infected the world with this by allowing travel from Wuhan to the rest of the world when they cut off travel to the rest of China.

I respectfully disagree. You are correct that these lawsuits will not result in any tangible justice. However, they draw attention to the real culprit and the ills of the CCP.

It is an established fact that China tried to hide the outbreak, lied to the world, and perhaps worst of all, they restricted domestic travel from Wuhan while allowing international travel to continue from Wuhan.

Had this outbreak occurred in a Western nation we would not be having this conversation and it would have been nothing in comparison to what it became as China knowingly allowed the virus to spread through the world.

This needs to be the primary take-away. The question of motive for the CCP does not change the equation either way for me.
