Pennsylvania's stay-at-home order extended through May 8
Philly Voice ^ | APRIL 20, 2020 | BY JOHN KOPP

New COVID-19 cases in Pennsylvania have stabilized, but the statewide stay-at-home order will remain in place through May 8, Gov. Tom Wolf announced Monday afternoon. The order originally was set to expire April 30.

Additionally, curbside pickup is now available at 176 state liquor sales – a move that will help state officials determine whether curbside pickup can be expanded safely to other businesses currently closed by the pandemic.

Wolf said several coronavirus-related restrictions will be relaxed next month. Online car sales and some limited construction will be permitted beginning May 8. He called them the first "small steps" toward a return to normalcy.

"I want to caution that this is not going to be resuming operations as they were in February," Wolf said. "We still do not have a vaccine. We still do not have an antibody test, and we still do not have a way to cure COVID-19."

The announcement came as protesters outside the state Capitol called for an end to the shutdown.

My point was, that there are a lot of people who are staying in because the weather is still relativly cold. In late may, the block parties will start in the city, especally in North and West philly.

The Dem Governors say they won’t open until they get testing. When they get testing levels they want, it will lead to a spike in newly discovered cases justifying further delay. When people object, they will point to CDC guidelines that state no reopening until a two week decline in cases.

Tommie the Commie who is so otherwise fond of issuing orders hasn’t required the Delaware River Port Authority to close the bridges to westbound traffic other than commercial vehicles.

Pennsylvania needs to isolate from NY/NJ.

I work for Universal Studios. The last time we had a meeting with the execs weeks ago as everyone concurred that everything SHOULD be back to business by the summer. Even the most ardent leftards in that meeting said they have no money to sustain the business.

But Conservative governors will open which will kick the level of outrage in blue states to whole new levels.

These crowds are going to get infected; go home to wherever they came from and infect people there. The contagion is still spreading in Pennsylvania; I live near Pittsburgh and the numbers are still climbing in my rural county.

This virus should not be minimized. Read the recent article in Science magazine that’s online. Researchers and doctors say they’ve never seen anything like it. It seems to cause blood clots leading to organ failure. People who’ve been seriously infected end up with what appears to be permanently damaged lungs. Some have major kidney damage and have to go on dialysis. There may also be brain damage because it’s being found in the brains of those who have died. This is ten times more contagious than flu and more deadly. I applaud Gov. Wolfe and I’m no Democrat.

People who gather in big crowds defying the best advice of doctors and scientists are just plain dumb. There’s no vaccine, no proven drugs, no real understanding if the immunity gained if you’ve been exposed actually lasts. They don’t know what level of antibodies in your blood confers immunity.

“Nice try, but Trump has already said Uncle Sugar is picking up that tab for that.”

No - hopefully you can be tested at low or no cost and perhaps be vaccinated cheaply/free if one becomes available. But after that, you have to hope there is some money available to help you - and that’s only if you have no insurance or health coverage to begin with. It’s a crapshoot, at best. But I guess that’s the bad news - you’re bankrupt. The good news being that you survived a deadly illness.

Um... pa liquor stores are for-profit companies of the state itself. They just told every private business to eat @#$% so they could open again.

Wow.

What are they going to do if everyone ignores them? Enough is enough with this. Don’t comply.

I was going to post that we meet at Harrisburg every Saturday at 10am, before the animals get out of bed, but I decided not to.

Reminds me of the movie “Money Pit”. When Tom Hank’s character would as the contractor when the house remodeling would be done, the answer was always, “two weeks”.

It’s Now A Flood Of Legislators Demanding An End To The Louisiana Shutdown
April 20th, 2020

It’s increasingly possible that the matter of ending the shutdown will be taken out of Edwards’ hands. In private conversations, legislators have been debating a heretofore-obscure provision in state law which could reopen Louisiana’s economy. La.R.S. 29:724(B)(2) provides, in pertinent part, that…

(2) The legislature, by petition signed by a majority of the surviving members of either house, may terminate a state of disaster or emergency at any time. This petition terminating the state of emergency or disaster may establish a period during which no other declaration of emergency or disaster may be issued. Thereupon, the governor shall issue an executive order or proclamation ending the state of disaster or emergency.

Word has it that the Legislature is planning on reconvening its 2020 regular session on Monday, May 4. If Edwards attempts to prevent that session from reopening, don’t be surprised to see section 2 of La. R.S. 29:724(B)(2) invoked and the governor’s shutdown power wrested away. An indication the Legislature is ready to lead came last week, when a far more robust economic recovery task force was appointed by House Speaker Clay Schexnayder and Senate President Page Cortez.

We will make one size fit all!!!!!!!!

Take 2 counties in PA
Lehigh (where Allentown is) and Erie (where the city of Erie is). About the same size (350,000 and 269,000)

Lehigh has 2245 cases, 33 deaths

Erie has 60 cases zero deaths

Has Gov Wolf explained why he has the same policy for both? Nah.
Lets assume that what he is doing in Erie county is wise. Then he is criminally negligent in Lehigh County.
