Big Flats, NY (WENY) -- Lowe's in Big Flats is currently closed because of continual violations of Executive Order(s) issued by New York State Governor pertaining to social distancing.
A couple of Chemung County Sheriff's deputies were on the scene asking people to leave the store around 3:00 PM this afternoon. A customer coming back for a second trip mentioned that when he was in the home improvement store earlier in the day, he had seen instances in which the social distancing order was not being observed. Employees at the store were allowed to remain inside.
In a press release Chemung County Executive Chris Moss said that following multiple written and verbal warnings, the County health department requested that Lowe's submit a plan detailing how they'll comply in the future. The store will only be allowed to re-open once the plan has been submitted and approved.
Moss, goes on to say in the release, Essential businesses have a responsibility to make sure their customers and employees are kept as safe as possible from contracting and or spreading the Coronavirus.
Another patron had mentioned that the store, typically closes for customers around 7:00 PM and closes for the night around 11:00 PM. The 4 hours between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM, we're told is dedicated specifically for cleaning and disinfecting.
I want to make it clear, that it is not the intent of the County to pursue closures, fines and possible arrest, but businesses who have been allowed to remain open, as they are designated as 'essential' must follow the guidelines set forth by the state, says Moss.
Public Health is currently our Main Priority and everyone must do their part, added Moss.
Several of Lowe's Home Improvement employees could be seen wearing masks.
.
probably too many people buying paint.
We went to Home Depot today to buy a Microwave and a Fridge, and most of the people did NOT have any masks on and were NOT afraid to help you!!
And everyone thinks you should have a mask. It's ONLY if you can't maintain the 6 ft..
Dollar Tree has said....no mask...no enter.
“businesses who have been allowed to remain open”
Think I found the problem...

What? Of course that is the intention. That is the function of police, to enforce whatever edicts they are given. Consent of the governed and all that. What's the point of policing if there aren't violations and penalties?
The authorities don’t want you buying pitchforks.
Thank the trial lawyers. They have already gone after a Walmart.
Big Flats is 4 hour drive from NYC.
social distancing doesn’t matter when Air moves everywhere
Not in Communist Maryland. Masks are now required in all retail establishments.
I just ordered a Trump 2020 mask
“SOoooooo, some TATTLETALE customer RATTED out the salespeople HELPING CUSTOMERS?? “
Not ruling out the original story but could have been a set-up / sting operation.
I don't go to Dollar Tree or Dollar General so I haven't noticed if they'd applied that rule here in Rome, New York. There's no signs of mandatory masks at either of the two local grocery chain stores. At least there weren't on Friday when I went to them. Haven't been to Walmart for a week, so I don't know if they're requiring masks, or making you wait outside in a line. At 72, I'm not standing outside for anyone just to buy a few items.

The proper response at this point is *** you, Flatfoot.

I believe earlier on...Fauci said NO MASKS.
Our fridge died and the state (Beshear - KY) would not allow appliance store to bring it into our house.
I have a dead fridge in the kitchen and a working one in the garage where one of our cars is supposed to be. PITA.
My antipathy for Democrat tyrants grows daily.
“Just following orders” Shows everyone that a lot of the LEO’s will obey their masters.
Democrat Nazi thugs.
I was in a Dollar Tree Saturday. Left my ‘mask’ in the car. No issues with shopping. Didn’t find what I needed, left.
