A Florida man encased himself in concrete outside the Governors Mansion in the state capital apparently to protest prison conditions related to the coronavirus.
A Tallahassee police spokesman says 28-year-old Jordan Mazurek put PVC pipes horizontally into two 55-gallon plastic drums filled with concrete, with some sort of mechanism that locked his arms in place.

Um, is he aware that he basically engaged in self-gatching?

Don’t disturb him. Just let him think about what he did. Come back in a week.

Seems like poor life choice. How did he know what a dog or some other animal might do?

Protesting lockups by locking himself up. Okay... The police have a concrete case against him. All they have to do is disarm him, and he is freed. Chainsaw, anyone?

This world would be in big trouble if Florida Man ever got together with Florida Woman.

Highly stupid. Apparently he doesn’t know that curing concrete is an exothermic reaction. It is also highly hydrophilic, so will suck a lot of the moisture from his skin.
Cement is largely made up of calcium oxide. When it reacts with water, it produces highly alkaline (high pH) calcium hydroxide that can reach a pH of 12 or higher within a couple of minutes. This is almost as high as oven cleaner.
After it’s dried, its pH becomes neutral, about 7.

This reminds me of the time we had ecoloons unfurl a huge banner off a giant conveyer belt at the port. They hung themselves at the bottom of the banner to keep it from being cut down. Then the wind started picking up... We extended our 100 ft. ladder all the way and I climbed up to the top to try and help them down. But the wind was whipping them back and forth so much that I wasn't able to grab any of them safely and they were quite agitated anyway. Their "leader" said they had ascender tools and could climb back to the top. It took them a long time but they were eventually able to climb back up to the conveyer where we "helped" them over the rail.
My lieutenant at the time said, well it looks like you will be going back to work on Monday after all. But they replied that they didn't have jobs, but that they might have to start looking.

He seems too proud not to believe they are, splayed across the peeling hood as he is.
