While we were sleeping, President Trump's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the US Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) gave H-1B and other visa holders a full 240 day extension to stick around and take new jobs for US citizens. When everyone was laid off or even fired over the past month, visa workers had 60 days to find new work or leave. Visa employers and groups pushing them as cheap alternative to American workers have been asking for 180 day extensions. The Trump administration just gave them 240 days! So much for the HIRE AMERICAN in Buy American, Hire American.
I doubt we can undo the visa extension, and I'd love to see how President Trump explains this. How he reconciles enabling American companies to rehire and employee cheap foreign labor over unemployed American workers.
I'm an unemployed IT worker and know many others equally unemployed IT workers while companies sit happy replacing us with cheap foreign labor.
What can we do? The deck is stacked against us when an employer is given government sanction to hire cheap foreign labor over Americans. President Trump talks well on the topic, yet acts to undermine this same talk. Since Democrats support open borders, this is not a campaign issue, as both welcome these cheap foreign workers.
I would love to hear how President Trump is going to honor his Buy American, Hire American talk with some real action to make sure these H-1B and other cheap foreign labor do not get American jobs as our American companies re-open in the coming weeks and months.
Your thoughts and suggestions? How do we get action, not just meaningless words? How do we make Buy American, Hire American real?
This is one of Trump’s few weak spots. But IT IS HUGE!

This should be part of a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1986 ONE TIME amnesty. The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1986 goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund.
Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls.

I saw at least a few of those. On further investigation, they seem to be responding to the recent addition to https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/uscis-response-coronavirus-2019-covid-19 of the section “Extension of Stay/Change of Status Filing Delays Caused by Extraordinary Circumstances Related to COVID-19”.
But I find no evidence that these options are new; at most, it may be new that the USCIS will consider COVID-19 as an extraordinary circumstance that may justify a late filing for extension.
I’ll believe it’s new when someone other than the Indian press says so.
