Kathy Griffin Beats Lawsuit Over Attempted Doxing of Teenagers (Covington High)
Hollywood Reporter ^ | 04/10/2020 | Eriq Gardner

A Kentucky court rejects the argument from Covington High School students that the comedian is subject to jurisdiction there because local people were asked to shame fellow citizens.

On Thursday, comedian Kathy Griffin slipped one of the many lawsuits that followed for her minor role on Twitter, where she demanded names and shame upon the Covington High School students.

U.S. District Court Judge William Bertelsman holds that Griffin's attempted doxing doesn't constitute acts committed in Kentucky and thus she's not subject to the jurisdiction of this federal court. In dismissing the suit, the judge adds that allowing Griffin to be sued in Kentucky for her postings "would also violate basic fairness or due process."

The dismissal of this suit on jurisdictional grounds is perhaps a promising sign for other journalists and media outlets still facing litigation.

Bertelsmann is a nut job. Very unpredictable. Very irrational. Also moderately corrupt. I had a serious case in his court about 20 years ago. He was a prick.

Didn’t she die from Coronavirus. It’s obvious she can’t die of embarrassment because she has no shame.

Bertelsman is a good guy. He knows and follows the law as written. The claims against Griffin lacked the standard to go forward. The fault isnt with the judge the libel and slander standards are way o protective of public figures. They need to be changed by statute. For now it is what it is

She will never beat the disgust that half of her countrymen feel toward for. Like with Jane Fonda.

She was nauseated. Probably from watching one of her own videos. But yes, she has gas. And lots of it.

A black-robed jackass opens the door to “doxing”. The concern for “basic fairness and due process” is laughable.

"would also violate basic fairness or due process."

I guess I don't understand due process. I thought a law suit provided due process. On the other hand, going to her house and burning it down would probably violate due process.

Try a civil lawsuit against the un-funny, ugly beotch. That worked for Nick Sandmann against CNN. He was awarded over 200 million dollars. Let’s see how funny things are when she gets served, if not already. Sandmann has many outstanding liable/slander suits in progress.

From the beginning, it has always been the law that claims must be brought where the claim arose or the defendants home jurisdiction. Not to worry, it will be refiled in the proper jurisdiction.

so is there any truth to this?

“The dismissal of this suit on jurisdictional grounds is perhaps a promising sign for other journalists and media outlets still facing litigation.”
