The highest-paid U.S. federal official earned $8.16 million last year, and he may be in line for a big pay cut as populist outrage shapes a new infrastructure package intended to put people back to work after the coronavirus outbreak.
Theres a bipartisan drive to cut compensation for Jeff Lyash, president of the Tennessee Valley Authority, as the White House and House Democrats begin talks on up to $2 trillion in infrastructure spending to offset a spike in joblessness.
The TVA is a federally owned electricity provider that controls dozens of dams built during the Great Depression as a jobs program. It also owns three nuclear power plants. But the vintage infrastructure project now pays many execs well over the US presidential salary of $400,000 and is in the process of outsourcing hundreds of jobs to India.

Why on earth would the TVA outsource jobs to INDIA?!
I bet he is an Obama Rat.
Many [TVA executives] make over a million dollars running an agency set up to render energy and aid to a poor region in our country that still suffers economically in many areas, Cohen told The Post.
How does this type of crap start?
Hi. I'm Billy Bob Bubba. How may I help you?
I have wondered about some of these salaries.
The civil servants — up to GS-15 — have pay schedules that are published. I think they top out at around $150K or thereabouts.
But above GS-15 you get into the Senior Executives System (SES). I think they can get paid whatever the government wants to pay them. Which, apparently, can be a lot.
The Deep State is not made up of GS-15 types. It’s well paid SES creatures.
This is a contract, I don’t think it will change............................
Wonder what the source of grants for is compensation is?
How about Washington you are fired..
The TVA began with a laudable mission: to bring hydro-electric power to the citizens living in the watershed of the entire Tennessee River valley. If a creek ultimately emptied into the Tennessee River, it and the land around it came under TVA’s purview.
It was a bumpy ride for awhile, as people were dispaced due to the lakes flooding the land behind all the dams that went up. Lives and livelihoods were changed forever and they let the government know.
But once the mission was accomplished, a huge federal agency slipped out of the public eye. But it never went away...
Voters.
I am currently doing a coding project for a government agency. Nearly all of the co-workers are black.
I’ve noticed this in every government contract I’ve ever done. A hugely disproportionate number of government workers are black. As high as 80% for some places.
Sounds like he has a prior history with TVA at Brown’s Ferry nuclear plant. That is about 30 miles up the road from me. I am glad the TVA Board is shucking its Obama-era members. Makes me feel better about TVA.
I see from the article Trump appointed Skip Thompson to the TVA Board, and now he will be the new TVA chairman. My previous career was as a state bank examiner. I met Skip years ago. He was a well-respected banker. As I recall, his father worked for NASA in Huntsville, AL, but almost certainly has to be deceased by now.
Thank you for linking that article.
Your photo reminds me: I live in the country and my neighbor has 3 Belgian work horses (They look like Clydesdales but they’re smaller.) Anyway, he likes to make them exercise a bit so he hooks up an old-time riding plow that he rides behind them and was plowing some ground for his garden. But he stopped and answered a call on his cellphone. I thought the contrast was funny.
Just dam.
His comp seems to be in line with the CEOs of comparable utilities.
They have veddy veddy good coders?
