President Trump on Saturday said he might personally take a drug cocktail he has talked up as a potential treatment for COVID-19 patients, though he has twice tested negative for the virus.

“I may take it, OK? I’ll have to ask my doctors about that, but I may take it,” Mr. Trump said at the White House.

The president has talked up the potential for hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug, in combination with other antibiotics, to treat people suffering from the coronavirus.

Pretty sure I heard Trump say, “There is evidence that people taking Plaquenil for lupus are underrepresented among the seriously ill and dead.” It’s all I have been asking for. Thanks Mr. President.

From the recent Chinese study:

“Interestingly, through a follow-up survey, we found that none of our 80 SLE patients who took long-term oral HCQ had been confirmed to have SARS-CoV-2 infection or appeared to have related symptoms. In addition, among the 178 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia in our hospital, none were receiving HCQ treatment before admission. All predicting the use of HCQ in SARS-CoV-2 infections.”

what bout use as a prophylactic? (preventative).

One pill a week to prevent, a very low dose.

Prevent meaning you end up asymptomatic or have much less serious case than you would have, you still get infected.

Saw in a paper on using it for acute treatment of more serious patients, they mentioned dose and frequency for prophylaxis

Some Drs and nurses are taking Hydroxychloroquine to protect them against the virus. It works as a prophylaxis to prevent infection of Covid19.

In India it is actually being recommended as a prophylactic for health care workers by the government.

I would not take it without symptoms or being tested as positive. You never know what sort of side effect a drug may cause an individual. Why tempt fate? Do not do it, Mr President.

Aspirin has the same side effects as hydroxychloroquine.

Difficult to believe anything from PRC Chine these days but what you write conforms with results elsewhere.

The FDA approved HCQ 4 days ago and the pills are ramping up in production.

The real enemies now are some Democrat governors who refuse to allow doctors treat their patients unless it’s in a hospital setting.

That needs to stop.

What amazes me is that Trump allows these reporters in close to him. It is not hard for me to imagine a reporter purposefully try to infect him with the virus. The reporter wouldn’t miss the opportunity to be the hero of the ages to his coven.

You never know what sort of side effect a drug may cause an individual.

From Wikipedia:

Hydroxychloroquine was approved for medical use in the United States in 1955.[2] It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the safest and most effective medicines needed in a health system.[6] In 2017, it was the 128th-most-prescribed medication in the United States, with more than five million prescriptions.[7]

Trump's job requires that he be around a large number of people. He is at risk, and the country cannot afford for him to be infected. If Trump's personal physician sees no contraindications, it makes sense for him to take the drug for prophylaxis.

I read that they’re doing research on this but in the meantime may allow medical personal to take one of the drugs as a preventative. Quinine is what the British in India and Africa used to take all the time - not only in the form of gin and tonics - to prevent malaria. This seems to do the same thing in the case of this virus.
