I see you comparing civilian and military command capabilities ... again there you go speaking about that which you know nothing.
since when has the very lives of employees been in the hands of a CEO? never, let alone every single day of a seaman’s life onboard, underway, enlisted. the’re there to take orders and serve there country.

...and FYI if your commander courts martial you out your out. you’ve been watching too much TV there pal.

Simple. He considered himself out of options. Otherwise why would he even presume that the Navy would let his ship hang out to dry while the coronavirus was on it?

No, he presented the two available options and chose the one he deemed most viable for the reasons stated that would return the Theodore Roosevelt to full fighting status as quickly as possible, I.e. approximately two weeks. The other option was more problematic. While it kept the ship operating, the fighting capability in the future was an unknown from less than optimal to zero. He obviously was not out of options. He chose one that required assistance from NAVADMIN.

As I’ve repeatedly stated, that option was so good it’s been adopted by NAVADMIN as the preferred method for getting the TR back operation and in fighting shape. In other words, Captain Brett Crozier was absolutely spot on in his analysis, conclusions, and in fact, absolutely correct in his recommendations as to what is required. It’s what they’re doing!

He's implying that the Navy is not doing enough to "rescue" his ship.

No, he’s implying nothing of the kind. You’re inferring something that’s simply not implied by what is written. He’s saying there is urgency to act. It says more about you than him.

You apparently know little about operational readiness have you ever heard of operational readiness? do you understand the military definition of it? I doubt it because it makes the statement “not at war” look stupid.

I know a lot about situational readiness, but apparently you don’t. A ship full of sick sailors can’t fight. QED.

and to transfer information through an email that you distribute to your friends?

And we still do not know who the addressees were, who added them, or who did it! You are jumping to conclusions on unproved assertions without evidence. I am unwilling to do that when there are so many red flags that don’t make sense!

you sound like an 5 year old that keeps saying “why”?

More ad hominem attacks that add nothing, insults that weaken your position because you have no facts except bluster.

“solve the problem’ there you hit the nail on the head. you shut your yap you put into port and you turn the issue over to someone else just like happened.

If the moron would have just shut up and did what he planned everything would have been fine for him. BUT NO he cracked under pressure and went outside chain of command sending an emotional screed to his leftist buddies in the media.

With what resources, gdc61? Exactly how was Captain Crozier going to find housing for 3000 to 4000 potentially COVID-19 infected sailors on shore among a limited number a civilian housing units spread all over the island, provide food distribution, transportation, and communications, etc., all the while maintaining on-board security, nuclear reactor operations for two reactors, minimal air flight capabilities to protect the airspace, a cadre a sailors assigned to disinfectation service, plus medical service for the 93 already sick sailors, the expected 20 to 30 more per day developing symptoms, plus ongoing testing of a crew spread of dozens of square miles at unknown quarantine locations? How? With what money? Remember Guam is on lockdown. What help?

You continually leap to unwarranted conclusions about who the memo was sent to, and by whom, without evidence of any kind. You condemn with ZERO facts but hearsay. You argue just like a Democrat. Facts don’t matter. It’s the seriousness of the accusation that is important. There have been people on this thread vilifying Crozier for the memo whose comments make it obvious they’d never laid eyes on the memo, much less read it!

So screw him and you can take all you leftist pinko emotions and stuff it in an envelope and mail it him.

So far, the one who seems to be frothing emotionally about this is you. I’m dispassionate on it. You’re the one calling names.

You argue by means of personal invective instead of rational discourse. Ad hominem. You call me names. Now you’re attacking me as a pinko-leftist, merely because I question the lack of factual evidence. I questioned that same lack of evidence in the General Michael Flynn case and there were Freepers calling for his head, and mine! I was absolutely right! I’m skeptical of this piling on. I have a history of being right. This smells.

Never watched it. Don’t watch such things. But an accusing officer cannot be the adjudication Officer. Soldiers do have rights under military law and they can appeal.

since when has the very lives of employees been in the hands of a CEO?

You just aren’t bothering to read what I’ve written are you? If you had, you’d grasp the concept. Since you don’t, it’s not worth trying again. Suffice it to say a as a CEO I could ruin you far worse than any stay in the brig (your example) could. Ruining an employee’s future employment prospects AND destroying his retirement investment capability is devastating, but you just aren’t paying attention, or you have tunnel vision.

If you’re a person used to earning $1 to $2 million a year and living that life style, cars, luxury, trips, toys, etc., and your employer CANS you for cause, ruining your ability to find that level of employment ever again, you’re black-balled in executive circles. What does that do to you? You lived on your assets for two to three years trying to keep up appearances, and you’re now several hundred grand in debt. You finally break, and you’re now working for Target as a clerk for $40k a year because it’s the only job you can get? Many wind up on the street. You didn’t even read it, did you? I know you couldn’t be bothered.

and FYI if your commander courts martial you out your out. you’ve been watching too much TV there pal.

Your commander can only bring charges. He’s likely to win in a military court. . . but he’s not going to be the accuser and judge. He has to find another officer to sit court. There may be an exception on the battlefield, but with lawyers everywhere in the military these days, probably not anymore.

since when has the very lives of employees been in the hands of a CEO?

There have been CEOs who have been required to lay off 13,000 employees, employees with families, in one day, to keep their companies from bankruptcy. Do you really think those CEOs relished having to do that? If they had not done so, many more employees would have been without jobs or prospects of future work because their jobs would be gone forever. The lives of hose employees and their families were in those CEOs hands. Not just a few killed themselves due to losing their jobs. It’s unavoidable.

I never found myself in that position. I hate firing people.

Ah, no. I'd say the Navy agreed with me.
