Good to see he got fired. 5000 sailors and 50 have mild symptoms - the guy was clueless.

He would have been cashiered during WW II.

It was a national security issue. The captain surely knew better than to do what he did.

Dismissed from the armed forces in disgrace because of a serious misdemeanor.
To: impimp
They strip your rank insignia off and possibly worse in front of your subordinates while demoting you and relieving you of command.

cashiered means thrown out of the Navy. In this case, he will be assigned to some staff, somewhere, until he is eligible to retire as an O6. He will put in his papers and retire.
To: Tijeras_Slim
He’ll be allowed to retire...pension assured.

Good commanding a carrier is way over his head. Emotional outbursts are not great for crew confidence.

Is he an O-6 now? I haven’t seen mention of how much time he has in.

it worked. He got off the ship
To: impimp
I guess he was voted off the island. Hows THAT for an aircraft carrier pun?

He would have been cashiered during WW II. He wouldn't have gotten this command during WWII
