....we seemed to well over the "crisis" and thank God we've saved the old people from ever dying...

but because we are not a free people, and we don't have a free press and we don't even have local talk radio anymore, the elites and the govt people can get away with this....

No, they won't. Even if they end up having to watch their parents die, it won't deter them from their path of stupid.

Not really a great argument since this is what they’re considering under the current system. Not really much difference is there?

Hmm. Aren’t there 30,000 ventilators sitting in a warehouse in Noo Yawk?

So buy a few thousand. Set up in a Boeing hangar, they gotta have free space by now since they shut down production.

See morons? Problem solved. Free enterprise.

The problem is less the # of infected and more the size of Washington. Their #’s rival Florida and Florida has a LOT more people.

This isn’t about Sanders, per se, but about a potential overwhelming of the hospital system. I think the story is a sensationalist and GP is doing the story no favors either....Yes...during a sudden influx of patients, a hospital may be forced to choose who to treat first...who will benefit from such treatment. Horrible to think about, but nonetheless a reality. I don’t think this will happen...

Based upon a recent Univeristy of Washington study they are projected to have some 1400 deaths, versus California’s 6100 deaths. WA is projected to have 96 ICU beds short at the peak.

DOH spokeswoman Lisa Stromme said the department will release information on the triage guidelines soon, saying it is “one of our top priorities.

“However, it will not be discussed externally until we can discuss it internally in the right way,” Stromme said. “It’s too crucial.”

"In the right way?"

The right way would be to conduct polls and public forums to let "The People" generate the policy.

You know, that old "by the consent of the governed" thing.

Remember that?

No? Figures.

The decision will be made regionally, so no one doctor or hospital will have to make the decision, Sauer said.

Yeah, just following orders.

There's something familiar about this...

Every state, every county, every Health Board, every health network, and every hospital is doing worst-case disaster scenario planning. They are all asking the same question — how do we allocate scarce resources?

It is silly to think people are not asking this question. It’s equally silly to think that, when push comes to shove, that younger people would be prioritized behind older people.

I’m in the old people category and, if it comes to it, I want my kids to live long healthy lives.

There are a lot of us oldsters and near-oldsters here on FR. I doubt a single one of us would please “Save me...don’t give that ventilator to my son or daughter.”

YUP, that is the way the liberals plan it all along. Get all we old people dead and gone and off the government payroll (medicare, medicaid, disabilities, etc) Yup, kill us off and move to that tax paying younger generation, not all of us who paid ours for 40-50 years and are now collecting it. Kill us off and move on. ONLY OLD LIBERALS will be allowed to live as long as they have important liberal jobs.
