Trump should have taken it out on Pelosi, not Massie.

Agree.

Misdirected.

Why wasn’t the whole House there anyway? I’m glad he made it obvious that MANY representatives were not doing their jobs of simply being there during this crisis.

It is a constitutional requirement. President Trump should have also lambasted the missing reps.

Trump simply believes that we can overcome everything with a money injection.
He went all in.
What can we do?

I have this feeling that we are getting this large check of $1200 in part to keep us from complaining about the 2.2 TRILLION spent.

I see it working, even with so called Conservatives.

It doesn’t, except the pocketbooks of politicians and governors. Yeah, everyone..... Except that doesnt include everyone..... Gets a check. In the end, country is still locked down and still needs a kick to get going. I dunno, maybe something to incentivise the want to work like a tax break or something.

Not quite sure what Massey is trying to accomplish. He ha already indicated he is voting no on the bill because of expense. The only thing I can think is his effort is to force a public vote on the topic to display to the voters.

Most votes are taken by a simple voice method, in which the yeas and nays are called out, respectively. It is the judgment of the chair as to which are greater in number determines the vote. But it does not identify the vote of each rep.

If a recorded vote is desired, a sufficient second must support it. The Constitution simply provides that “the yeas and nays of the Members of either House on any question shall at the desire of one-fifth of those present, be entered on the Journal.” This is the way it would go in individual public record and not just passed through without identification of house voting per member.

One-fifth of a quorum is deemed to be 44 in the House (one-fifth of 218). Since 1973, the House has used an electronic voting system to reduce the time consumed in voting, and permits a minimum of 15 minutes to complete a vote. When the presiding officer calls a vote, members have a set amount of time to record their votes—yea, nay, or present—using one of the many voting stations attached to the rows of seats located around the House Chamber. A small blue light indicates which stations are open. An electronic display board on the south wall of the chamber displays a running tally of the vote. But it does not identify who voted how. So it may be put up or....And let your voters know what you did. It’s accountability to return the process back to roll call voting. So it may be a put up or shut up to the voters on how they are taking care of them or who’s playing politics with people’s lives.

The guy’s been a maverick in the past, so how do you tell when his intentions are positive? This is the only excuse I can figure.

This was also a way to take the spotlight off the democrats for holding the Bill up, by the media.

What part of stay at home are you confused about? He put lives at risk unnecessarily. The guy’s an idiot. Trump’s right about that.

Once in a lifetime? I’ve seen it at least twice in mine. 2008 was another big year for gutless giveaways at The People’s expense.

It keeps businesses and employees intact for a short period of time. Without it, Trump loses the people quickly as bills aren’t paid, local and state governments collapse from lost revenue, pension finds are obliterated, mortgages defaulted, violence in cities increases, banks fail, basic goods become scarce...shall I go on? Because I can.

He’s bought 2 months to bring the economy back up. It likely will be enough. If the American people didn’t want the crap sandwich part they shouldn’t have given the Democrats as much power as they did with the House majority and 47 Senators. That die was cast in 2018 and the people gave the Democrats the power to get their cut. The only other option for the administration and the Republicans was mass suicide.

The President is sometimes mistaken (red flag laws.) The party needs more men like this Representative. This was not about publicity or grandstanding. The Constitution should be followed - whether expedient or not.

Frankly, I think he showed courage. Sometimes it is harder to take a stand when it involves your friends, or in this case your President.

“Stay at home” is not for all.

Until we have a vaccine the virus is going to burn through the population. It’s only the rate of burn that is controllable. Pick your desired rate.

I don’t think you can blame Trump for being a little testy. Literally everyone is piling on as if he is running every hospital in America himself.

Good take.

He is under an unimaginable, tremendous load. He has been required to quickly make an unbelievable number of MAJOR decisions 24/7 not only regarding our situation but also but also some with important global implications.

Watching him handle the reporters and their dumb-ass repetitive questions and parry their thinly veiled cheap shots shows how involved and intense he is.

I too will cut Trump some slack on his inappropriate and counterproductive remark about Rep Massie. Trump's most pressing goal at the moment is to get money into the economy and from his perspective Massie's proposed action threatened to delay that perhaps until next week.
