When a business completes a waiver form, a team of professionals at DCED will review each request and respond based on the guiding principle of balancing public safety while ensuring the continued delivery of critical infrastructure services and functions. Those requesting a waiver will be notified via email if their operations may re-open. Businesses applying for a waiver must remain closed until a decision is made about their application.

Here we have a team of unelected bureaucrats (Dept. of Community and Economic Development - sounds progressive to me) who never ran a successful business of their own. (How can you tell? They work for the government. If they were successful they would still be in business, if they ever had a business.) They don't know jack about the businesses, customers and supply chains that they are affecting. They are making decisions that will bankrupt thousands, unless they kiss government butt to get a loan that neither can afford. Then government as a lien on the business. This is government picking winners and losers, plain and simple. The consequences may even be detrimental to the health of citizens. This will be enforced by the state police. Gives a new sound to state police. Might as well rebrand as the Stazi.

Closing liquor stores is not a good idea.

Businesses that are “non life sustaining” don’t get to operate.

Supermarkets are “life sustaining”. Computer technicians are not. But if the supermarket’s computer goes down...

I don’t think the Gov has completely thought this through...

“Due to the high volume of waiver requests, the Wolf Administration is delaying enforcement of Governor Tom Wolf’s order and the Secretary of Health’s order that all non-life-sustaining businesses in Pennsylvania must close their physical locations to slow the spread of COVID-19. “

The meaning of the orders:

“We lack the means (the government’s fault) to identify all the bad and speeding drivers, so we are ordering all the roads closed, as the only way to stop the bad drivers.”

Would Americans normally accept that excuse??

Speaking of Governors and their response to this Chinese Virus, compare AZ Governor Ducey’s response to NM Goveror Grisham.

AZ Governor Ducey’s “State of Emergency” Requirements:

- Requires insurance companies and health plans to cover out of network providers, including out of plan laboratories and telemedicine providers.
- Waives all copays, coinsurance, and deductibles for consumers related to COVID-19 diagnostic testing and decreases co-pays for telemedicine visits.
- Implements consumer protections, including prohibiting price-gouging on COVID-19 of diagnosis and treatment-related services.
- Requires symptom checks of healthcare workers and visitors at skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

Now for NM Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s “State of Emergency” Requirements:

- Restaurants, bars, breweries, eateries and other food establishments must close to dine-in customers; take-out and home delivery are permitted
- Indoor shopping malls must close
- Recreational facilities, health clubs and resort spas must close
- Theaters must close, including movie theaters
- Flea markets must close
- Typical business environments that are not engaged in the provision of an essential service should limit operations to the greatest extent possible and minimize employee contact.
“Typical business environments” are defined as businesses, governmental organizations, political subdivisions and other entities engaged in commercial, industrial, charitable or professional activities.
- Hotels, motels and other places of lodging shall not operate at more than 50 percent of maximum occupancy. This restriction does not apply to operations providing lodging to health care workers who are engaged in the provision of care to New Mexico residents or those businesses providing temporary housing to individuals employed and working in New Mexico.

Grsiahm is on track to putting NM businesses, already struggling, out of business. The comparison is between AZ Governor’s common sense steps and NM Governor’s panic. Sorry, but women are generally not built to make sensible decisions especially in time of crises and are too subject to emotional panic and she should not be able to make these wild and crazy decisions.

I knew this guy was ‘effing retarded when they shut down the highway rest areas.

And I knew his mouth was writing checks that his ass can’t cash when he said the state police would enforce all of his emergency restrictions. I haven’t been in PA for very long but even I knew that this was like telling me that a Girl Scout troop is going to enforce a cease-fire in Syria.

I think someone’s been telling him that his political career is over.

If I’m reading that right, Comrade Wolfe Orders business to shut down due to the global health pandemic crisis to save lives, so he writes a Hasty and incomplete executive order causing even more confusion so as a result the businesses can stay open a few extra days until the government can figure out what they meant. Way to install confidence.

Luckily, I live in Connecticut where my idiot governor just simply does whatever Cuomo or wolf does because he has no idea what he is doing, just like the others.

Ropes and trees were made for these . . .

Wasn't that from a Eurythmics song, or am I misremembering ?

I'll put the headphones and try refreshing my aging memory   ;-)

Local beer distributor pointed to their rack of peanuts and beef jerky and said they were granted a waiver for being an essential business because they “sell food”. This whole shutdown theater is dumb. If the infection rates actually do show a reason to do a quarantine, it would have to be directed by the feds because the trust in state government in many areas is shattered.

(for those who don’t know, wine and booze in PA is mostly sold in state-run stores, beer is mostly sold in separate locally owed stores and until a few years ago only sold by the case.)
