My guess is that the FDA is a deep state farm of anti-Trump, lifetime paid and pensioned Leftists. Along with the Dems and Media, they will do anything to harm Trump. Anything.
Trump just used the words Deep State Department
I have been a passionate Trump advocate around here since he announced, but that briefing was an example of him talking when he should listen.
HCQ is already approved by the FDA, nobody needs to do anything, any doctor can prescribe it.
What's NOT done is HCQ being labelled as "safe and effective for SARS CoV 2", that can't happen because a) nobody knows if it's true, and b) "safe and effective" is defined by statute and the President doesn't make laws.
There is no such thing as "compassionate use approval" for a drug that is already licensed.
The FDA isn’t preventing anyone from using hydroxychloroquine. It’s already an approved drug. The FDA isn’t willing to officially certify it for use against COVID-19, that’s all. Drugs are used “off-label” all the time.
the drain tube drains fluid from the pleural slate outside the lungs. there is no invasive way to drain fluid from the airspaces. Please leave the medicine to the professionals
~~~
I’ve heard of this being done when the lungs fill with blood, so assumed the same was true for fluids inside the lungs.
Good thing this isn’t a medical community forum and I’m giving advice to people, rather than commenting on political topics. But I guess I can give up my speech and discussion rights to the professionals. Thanks for the harty rebuff MomMD :D
What if one prefers Vodka?
Sorry. not aimed at you personally. there is just a lot of bad info floating around this forum.
You are right to correct me. My sentences were phrased as factual declaratives and I typical try to avoid making statements like that about things which I don’t have confidence or experience in. My fault
Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if the head of the FDA were more Never Trumper scum.
...Great news if it is true, but we already have a 98.6% survival rate in the US...
*********************************************************
You do realize that among that 98.6% American survival rate survivors, a significant (but unknown) number have been and continue to be given Hydrooxychloroquine which has contributed to their survival.
I am listening to Pence on delay now and his staged, calm, doubletalk about meeting the ventilator and mask need is painful to watch.
Yes, Trump should have done this weeks and weeks ago.
“rigging ventilators” — really? There’s a way to split a single ventilator to serve four patients? I would have thought they had to be in sync with the patient’s natural breathing somehow kind of like a CPAP machine.
THe more important statistic is whether it reduced hospital stays significantly, which the french trial suggested.
If you get people out in 5 days instead of 14, even IF you didn’t reduce the death rate, you almost triple the number of beds, since you get 3 people through when you used to get 1.
I believe once we have a treatment that can get us down to a 3-4 day hospital stay, we can lift most all restrictions, and just protect the old people and at-risk population while it plays out in the general population. The key is to avoid filling up the hospitals.
wish there was a way in emergency situations, that peopel could sign a waver- that states they will not hold a hospital or drug manufacturer responsible IF the person decides to take the drug
It’s a shame that a few reactionary deaths can shut a drug down while there would be 1000’s, perhaps 10’s of 1000’s of folks dying without the drug -
Wish there was a form i could sign if i went into a hospital with something like this virus that states that i fully understand that the drug has not been FDA approved yet, and that there is no guarantee that it won’t harm me, but a agree to take the drug because the risk of dying from the flu or virus, or whatever is greater than the risk of the drug
of course scumbag lawyers will jump in when a person dies from the drug supposedly, and claim the person wasn’t of sound mind, due to the flu, or virus, or whatever, and then sue the crap out of hospital or drug maker-
Better Call Saul! /sandpiper
Very similar to the State Department.
One pharma example besides the commonly cited Bayer...
Mylan is restarting their plant in West Virginia to produce hydroxychloroquine [1].
Mylan to restart production of hydroxychloroquine [2].
I use alpha hydroxy acid in my face cream. Am I immune, then? /sarc
