I get the impression that the challengers’ campaigns were not well run and were too focused on the Jussie Smollett case. Most voters seem to have regarded that as in the past and unconnected to larger issues. Yet a harder lesson is also evident: Leftist rule in Chicago is now so consolidated that elections cannot be relied on to oust flawed public officials.
