Rep. Louie Gohmert delays House coronavirus relief bill from moving to Senate

WASHINGTON - Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, is holding up the House-passed coronavirus relief bill and preventing it from being delivered to the Senate for a vote.

The House was expected to make technical corrections Monday to the bipartisan measure, passed by the House early Saturday, but Gohmert is insisting on reading them, a Democratic leadership aide confirmed to NBC News on Monday.

The technical corrections package has not yet been finalized and the House wants to pass it by unanimous consent because the House is on recess this week.

If one member stands in opposition, the House can’t send the bill to the Senate without bringing the entire House back from their districts to Washington for a vote. The Senate is in session this week, but schedules have been fluid because of the coronavirus outbreak.

I wonder how many millions of dollars are earmarked for Planned Parenthood to “fight the virus.”

It’s a public good. Dead babies can’t catch a virus! /s

Not much different than shutting down the entire air traffic system on 9/11. We need to get a handle on this mess.
How to get a handle short of shutting down the country? ORrrrr.... we could just let people get sick and die. Ya know - the tautological “survival of the fittest”?

Or, we could just protect and isolate the at risk population. You know, rather then destroy the savings and wealth of every single middle class American that has worked their whole life to build something. What and who do you think is affected by a complete rout of 401Ks followed by massive inflation as they print trillions of dollars to pay to the lowest among us economically?

cripes... *** How to get a handle short of shutting down the country? ORrrrr.... we could just let people get sick and die ***

Like we have a handle on the flu? yet we don’t shut down the country for flu.

re: This coronavirus
- why test? ( I’ll wait but not too long )
- there’s no vaccine. (current flu shot is maybe 50% effective overall yet we didn’t shut down the country?)
- treatment is the same as the flu - to treat the symptoms, stay at home if not hospitalized.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm

“The CDC estimates that so far this season there have been 22,000-55,000 deaths, 36 million to 51 million flu illnesses, 370,000- 670,000 hospitalizations.”

and we still haven’t shut the country down?

That was an earlier bill, and Trump refused it, but I bet they’re trying to take advantage of this loophole to add it back in.

Louie says, correctly, “Bring them back, let them hack, but make them do their job, not scurry off like rats in the night”.

Louie has more balls then all the Democrat men and most of the Democrat women when it comes to getting an honest, working Congress.
