Rep. Jordan: Democrats Worry Ratcliffe Will 'Clean Up' FISA

Democrats are afraid of Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, becoming President Donald Trump's next director of national intelligence because they are concerned about how he'll work on reforms of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, Rep. Jim Jordan said Tuesday.

“I think they’re scared (Ratcliffe) is going to clean FISA up,” the Ohio Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom," pointing out that Ratcliffe identified issues with the FISA process three years ago.

"It also shows that (Rep.) Adam Schiff was wrong," said Jordan. "They don't like the fact that Adam Schiff was wrong and John Ratcliffe was right." Republicans were vindicated by Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report, Jordan added.

“It was John Ratcliffe and a handful of others who saw this and called it out, so it's no wonder the Democrats don’t want him to be nominated as the head of DNI, but he’s the right one for the job," said Jordan.

Jordan, the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, said Republicans don't want reauthorization of FISA, but instead that reform is considered "paramount."

I really like him...Granted, I dont know much about him but seems like he would be a good pick.

There was a funny moment where Trump said something about Ratcliffe..cant remember...maybe the person to be the next Perry Mason. He caught himself and said of course I would pick Barr first ..but after that Ratcliffe.

You have to wonder how many more politically motivated warrants based warrants were there. How many manufactured by the leak->news->evidence style of warrant getting were there? And are any still ongoing?

The FISAs on Carter Page violated the rights of thousands of people (two hops). This is what "18 U.S. Code § 242. Deprivation of rights under color of law" is for. One count per each violated person for everyone who signed the FISA warrants would be appropriate.

CIRCA 2017 FISA Report Confirmed:
Obama Admin Sent FISA-Obtained Info on Americans to Non Government Entities
We Still Don’t Know Whose Data Was Sent to What Companies

The Hill ^ | 2/24/2020 | Joe Hoft / FR Posted on 2/24/2020, 1:16:05 PM by bitt

A stunning April 2017 report from the FISA Court received no publicity until nearly a year after it was released to the public. The report covered results of an investigation or audit into FISA searches made by Obama’s NSA, FBI and DOJ during Obama’s time in office. On April 26, 2017, an unsealed FISA Court Ruling unveiled a number of criminal activities that Barack Obama’s FBI, NSA and DOJ participated in during his time in office. The report was actually completed before the 2016 election.

The FISA Court Ruling showed widespread abuse of the FISA mandate. According to the report, Obama’s FBI, NSA and DOJ performed searches on Americans that were against their 4th Amendment rights. This went on for years. One paragraph in the report states that 85% of the Section 704 and 705(b) FISA searches made during the time of the audit (a few months in 2015) were non-compliant with applicable laws and therefore criminal.

In addition, Obama’s DOJ and FBI were illegally searching Americans against their rights. Unbeknownst to most Americans, Obama’s FBI was providing this information to outside contractors who had no business or legal cause or claim for the information. A review of the report showed on page 19 that the Court stated that Obama’s NSA had an institutional “lack of candor”.

Rogers is also suspected of telling President-elect Donald Trump that he was being spied on in a meeting shortly after his election win in November 2016. The level of corruption within Obama’s NSA, FBI and DOJ is shocking. To date no one has been charged with crimes or is serving time as a result of the many crimes committed by this group of government hoodlums. We still don’t know what companies were receiving personal information on which Americans during the Obama years. It’s been more than four years!!! (Excerpt) Read more at thegatewaypundit.com ...

85% of NSA searches by Obama Were Illegal
Susan Rice was colluding with Obama to set-up the shady operation

Freedom Outpost ^ | 01-24-2018 | Tim Brown / FR Posted 1/24/2018 by ReformedMedia

CIRCA 2018---In trudging through the FISA document that came to light, it was discovered that Obama's National Security Agency (then-headed by Susan Rice) had been illegally conducting searches on people in the US. The document has gone on to state that those illegal searches, which were conducted under Obama amounted to a whopping 85% of the total searches involving US person identifiers.

Democrats? Ratcliffe’s nomination was blocked by the GOP the first time around. Susan Collins was reportedly unhappy he was “mean” to Mueller during his House testimony.

I hope so too. I think Ratcliffe is a good guy but he’s a Republican. None of them really mean anything they say.

Lou Dobbs interviewed Sen Rand Paul tonight about this very issue. Very good interview and informative. It might be on YouTube by now.

The Sen said our president wants a stand alone bill for private citizens...ie not part of FISA. Also, certain powerful senators want to drag this out and Paul says this is a way of delay delay delay to point of not changing much. Sen McConnell wants to delay, does not want change.

FISA needs to be eliminated.

Secret courts have no place in a free country.

Yes it has to be cleaned up. Reliance on ethics 0f Members to use it properly was said to be naïve when it was adopted. New FISA should reflect the American process - accuse, hear both sides, choose correct course of action, then indict.

You can do it behind closed doors.

You can build in an appeal process. But go for it now. The time is right.

Adam Schiff was wrong because Schiff is a devil in disguise. Relegate him to some obscure committee forever.

FISA needs an ombundsman….a referee with the power to stop internal abuse.
