Nebraska: Infringements on Right to Arms Defeated for 2020

On 21 February, 2020, hundreds of Second Amendment supporters showed up at the Nebraska legislature to exercise their First and Second Amendment rights. They were there to stop proposed infringements on the right to keep and bear arms. They were successful.

Governor Pete Ricketts tweeted in support of the Second Amendment defenders.

In Nebraska, bills are sent to a priority list by individual senators or by being voted on in committee. Because the time the legislature is in session is limited, if a bill does not make it to the list, it is virtually killed off for the year. You can check the finalized priority list for the Nebraska legislature here.

LB58 and LB816 did not make it to the list. 21 February was the last day to make it to the priority list for 2020.

This year, the threats to the right to keep and bear arms were defeated. They will be back. In summation, here are the two bills and their titles in the Nebraska legislature. LB 58 red flag law:

LB58 – Adopt the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act

Berry Law is a Nebraska law firm. They have written an analysis of LB58. From jsberrylaw.com:

The fundamental flaw in LB 58 is that it provides no due process for an individual to prevent the seizure of their firearms until it is too late. No other fundamental right is treated so cavalierly. After all, we don’t allow the government to raise our property tax assessments without notice and the right to a hearing before the assessment. We don’t trust the government to take away drivers’ licenses from those accused of drunk driving without providing notice and a hearing before the license is temporarily revoked. If we protect ourselves from taxation (not a fundamental right) and driving

Dick noses don’t want to confront armed citizens protecting their rights. Rightly so, we are not kidding. God granted the rights, we protect them. Way to go Nebraska!

I realize there are commies in the Nebraska legislature just like in any other, and it only takes one of them to bring a bill like this up (is that senile racist clown from Omaha still a representative?) but it’s still surprising that something like this would even come up in a good, solid R state.

One of the things we have learned during the Trump Presidency, is the large number of fake conservatives that exist under the name of “Republican”.

I live in Nebraska. Moved here with my wife in 1990 from Jersey. Yes, there are left wing nut jobs here same as other places. Back in 2007 when the state’s concealed handgun permit legislation was still in the judiciary subcommittee, it was a bear to get it out from subcommittee onto the legislative floor because 3 of the 5 sub- members were libtards. The pressure from the residents was intense, so it finally made it to the floor and was passed something like 47-3 or 45-5, but it was overwhelming. Lincoln and Omaha have the largest number of liberals, but thankfully the State overall is red. The libtards made an attempt this year for that red flag law crap, and once again mainstay conservative Nebraskans flooded the legislative room, the overflow room and the hallways of the Capitol building. It was awesome! Lots of kudos to an ever-growing and long-standing grass roots support group called the Nebraska Firearms Owners Association.

Oh, and Ernie Chambers? The only way that the legislators were able to get him out of the Legislature was by passing term limits some years ago, but he and his constituents bided their time and got him re-elected!

BTW, I am not an East Coast libtard. We moved out here for “The Good Life”. I am a CHP instructor for the State and serve on my church’s armed security team.
