Collins was given a perfect out by Trump. A job he is very well qualified for and desperately needs doing but instead his ego ran away with him
The flip side of this is that Collins is a professional politician, while Loeffler entered politics after she made a fortune doing something else.
What's interesting is that this dynamic seems to be on display in the Senate race. Loeffler has been very low-key, while Collins' public statements carry a serious tone of desperation in them.
