Right there is one thing that is paralyzing a proper response to this virus. No government official wants to be labeled a racist. So instead of banning all flights from Asian countries, flyers are simply screened upon arrival.
Seeing that the incubation period for the virus is 14 days (or more), that screening is essentially worthless.

Xi is entering a period of potential regime collapse, and he knows it.

Pretty hard to look at the stats so far and not have thoughts along these
lines.
I think we can all agree that it's terrible the Chinese people are
having to deal with this level of death and destruction.
That's not really a slam on anyone.
Maybe it's time to start spending more waking hours trying to prevent this
in the future, than on new military equipment since no one is looking to
invade.
Maybe you shouldn't be thinking of poking other nations with a sharp stick.
Take care of your people, and leave others alone.
