I think a lot of this will depend on:

Genes (ace2 issues)
Lungs (smoking)
Health care you obtain once you get sick.

Also, if you are taking Ace inhibitors like blood pressure meds perhaps you are less likely to get it or if you do you are more likely to survive

IF all we have learned so far is true then it is NOT the common cold. The official name is “(SARS-CoV-2)”. SARS is an acronym for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. “CoV” is Coronavirus and 2 is the SECOND time a SARS labeled coronovirus has appeared.

I had this same debate with Aunt over the Coronovirus, she was a near sky is falling panic about the coming apocalypse and all the precautions she was taking. I just shrugged and said I'm not worried about it and it doesn't even cross my mind, I'll take my chances, 98% survival rate, I'll roll the dice...

I am pretty sure that 2% of the people who get the kinds of flu we’re used to don’t die. If I understand correctly that 2% is also when advanced medical care is available and without it upwards of 20% can die. Also if I understand correctly you don’t develop immunity from this and can be reinfected.

All that said, absolutely, they want to drive the economy down over it in an attempt to dislodge Trump. So far at least nobody really seeks to be blaming Trump for this.

If it does break out here and his admin is seen to have been dishonest and/or inept in dealing with it, however, it absolutely could develop into his Katrina.

I hope he is getting good info, because with good info he is proactive and on top of things.

Love Rush of course. I think here Wall Street is largely reacting to real data. For example, it is easy to track the number of flights over China and people are saying they are way down. Similarly, what goes on in Chinese ports is pretty visible. When ships are cancelled or are turned away because of stacked up containers, the market knows. Last week it was reported that ships arriving in China with refrigerated containers are being turned away because the plugs needed for the containers in the ports once unloaded are all already be being used because the workers (trucks?) needed to move out the previously unloaded containers are not there. I am guessing there are quite a few data points like this. IDK, just throwing this out there.

I love Rush but on this thing I do believe that reasonable precautions are the order of the day and not just reckless disregard for a disease that has paralyzed an authoritarian state that doesn’t give a damn about their people.

If China is reacting strongly to this thing then it is serious.

I love Rush, but he is dead wrong on this one.

The infection rate is high Epidemiologists are now saying that 40-70% of the population of the entire world is going to get it. It is hyper-contagious. (SOURCE)

They are now touting a death rate of 2%. The flu is 0.1% - this is 20 times worse! That is not the common cold friends!

For elderly people, the death rate is 15%.

There are 7.7 BILLION people in the world, so if:

• 40%-60% get the virus, that's, 3.08 - 4.62 Billion people infected.
• at a flat 2% death rate: 61.6 - 92.4 million deaths
• at a 10% death rate; 308 - 462 million dead

The human race experiences a pandemic like this every century or so. The last time was in 1918 - the Spanish Flu when as many as 50 million died - more than died in WWI. This will be on that scale.
