Bring Out Your Dead

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Sounds like it will be about another 2 or 3 months before it’s out of control in the US.

South Korea total (recorded) Coronavirus cases by March 20, 2020: ... we don’t know, but it could get ugly if they have the same growth rate as China ...
But the epidemiologists of FR said “Muh flu!”
Iran now Syria now Lebanon.....that’s the variant of this virus that will soon take China off the headlines.
Current thinking is One host could infect up to 7 others. Crazy.

Because there are too many asymptomatic carriers or with such a mild case they pass it on without getting tested because it doesn’t occur to the mildly ill that it is anything other than a cold. This makes tracking it nearly impossible if there are too many unrecognized/unreported cases.
This may result in a great winnowing of the elderly, chronically ill and the homeless when/if it breaks out of containment in the US.
Hell, they’re not going to contain it. It involves governments.
Looks like the markets are starting to react.
Donald, stop all international flights to/from China. Teleconferencing will just have to do.
Added benefit: fewer births/automatic citizenship.
