South Korea sees its first coronavirus death and Daegu city's 2.5 million people are told to stay indoors as number of cases spikes after spreading through 'cult'

South Korea has seen its first coronavirus death after Daegu city's 2.5million people were put on lock-down today after the country's cases nearly doubled to over 100.

Mayor Kwon Young-jin made a televised address, urging citizens to wear masks and remain indoors while revealing his concerns that the contagion could rapidly overwhelm the city's health infrastructure.

A man in his 60s from neighbouring North Gyeongsang province tested positive for the coronavirus after dying Wednesday following symptoms of pneumonia, authorities said. He was among 15 people found to be infected at a hospital in Cheongdo.

The surge in cases comes after a 61-year-old woman, known as 'Patient 31', came down with a fever on February 10 but continued attending the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, a nationwide 'cult.'

Most Christian denomination do indeed condemn the Shincheonji Church of Jesus as a cult.

Their mass graduation of 103,000 “Bible students” in November 2019 after 6 months to 8 months of training was a PR stunt.

Certainly nowhere near as large as Yoido Full Gospel Church, a church with 800,000 members and considered a mainstream Pentecostal church.

As of this post, there are 1,199 documented cases of COVID-19 outside of China.

Of that 1,199, 634 are Diamond Princess related. That figure is getting harder to quantify as people are taken off the ship. Mixing them in with the normal national count of nations, is misleading.

The best way to study what is happening in the general population, is to study people in normal circumstances.

The Diamond Princess number of 634 compares to other nation who mostly have 1-30 cases. There are a few in the 80s up to 100, but those are outliers.

The Diamond Princes anomaly accounts for 52.88% of all cases outside of China.

As near as I can tell, there are 565 normal general community cases outside China. Of those 185 have now been resolved. 10 of those people have died, and 175 have been declared recovered. That resolved rate of general populace numbers is now 32.74%.

There are now 380 general populace case active.

Counting the Diamond Princess, there are 1014 cases still active.

That is a 15.5% resolved rate for the total body of cases outside China, including the D. P. group.

One Diamond Princess Recovered person is added in for that last evaluation.

Bring Out Your Dead

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
