TOKYO—A Kobe University doctor touched off a furor with a firsthand account of a virus-stricken cruise ship in which he accused Japan of doing a worse job protecting people than African nations and China.

Kentaro Iwata, who made the allegations in widely circulated YouTube videos after spending Tuesday aboard the Diamond Princess, told The Wall Street Journal in an interview that the crew should be removed as soon as possible because of the danger of catching the novel coronavirus on the ship.

The charges by Dr. Iwata, an infectious disease specialist who has worked to tackle the Ebola disease and the 2002-03 SARS epidemic, were quickly taken up in Parliament and at the prime minister’s office. Asked to respond to Dr. Iwata, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said, “We are doing everything possible to prevent infections from spreading” on the ship.

LOL. Reminds me of my GF who works at the famous hospital here in Hollywood. There is an AIDS ward and the patients are all fags. Not one nurse wants to work there and they would go to the union to bitch about it.

Japan doesn’t care because the ship was full of Gaijin.

A doctor who was aboard one of the ships said Japan was letting people off too soon. He predicted a pandemic in weeks.

The problem isn’t the ship, it is inadequate infection control. Notice in the excerpt below that the emphasis is on contact:

When the cruise started, there were 1,045 crew members on board. Dr. Iwata said a large facility might have to be found to hold the crew for observation even if they have tested negative. He said compared to passengers, the crew had more potential contact with a large number of infected people so more precautions were needed.

>>The problem isn’t the ship,<<

I seriously anyone will ever want to cruise on that ship again. In fact, I think the entire cruise industry is in deep trouble.

...

You could be right about that.

But all they have to do is rename the ship. They’ll rename the company if they have to.
