Thanks to Second Amendment supporters around the Commonwealth ceaselessly voicing their opposition to a sweeping gun ban, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 10-5 to reject House Bill 961 on February 17th. Bloombergs House majority in the General Assembly is not going to deliver their most coveted agenda item to their billionaire master.
House Bill 961 was a comprehensive ban on many commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, suppressors, and standard capacity magazines. The original bill sought to impose a licensing and registration scheme for citizens who wish to keep affected firearms they lawfully owned prior to the ban, with felony penalties for noncompliance. It also broadly banned any part that could be used to change a firearm into a banned configuration. While the House Public Safety Committee amended the bill to allow citizens to keep currently owned firearms and suppressors, there was no option for citizens to keep their lawfully acquired magazines with capacities greater than twelve rounds, forcing millions of Virginians to dispose of their property, become a criminal, or surrender them to the government.
Numerous other anti-gun bills are still in play this session. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on these bills and other issues threatening our Second Amendment rights in Virginia.

This shows what determined, massive, nonviolent protests will accomplish at most state levels where the legislators cannot escape their constituents by fleeing to a remote location like Washington, DC and locking themselves away to conspire to steal our rights.
2nd Amendment bump for later... .
Waiting to see what happens in November.
Did you read a post here that said people were done fighting or naive enough to believe it was over?

They will keep coming back and coming back until they wear down the opposition. It may take 5 years, 10 years, or more, but they will never stop trying.
Now, we need to pressure those 4 to do what is right. Are those 4 Dems in swing districts?
Exactly. We on the other hand, enjoy our lives a little too much it seems.
Some Virginia Democrats may still feel responsible for promoting the general welfare of the state. This issue has the potential to be dangerously destabilizing.
WOO HOOO!
I can’t tell you how relieved I am.
My part time job is selling guns and this hanging over our heads has caused a panic buying spree and it has been wearing me out.
Saturday was another 200 gun day in our store.
Next year is the election year, VA’s election always follows one year after Presidential elections.
Not an election year for Virginia state legislators.
Those elections happen in odd numbered years.
And that’s what they count on, they know that normals don’t generally like to get involved in government, they just want to be left alone.
But they won’t leave you alone.
