It is the standard now. As long as there is a high standard, having a beard or turban is irrelevant. Society changes how they appear, the military adapts to change. If the battlefield requires changing such appearances, then it can be changed again.

It is wrong for the military and we disagree. We have had a standard for a long time and it has worked well. NO need to change.

During my time in the USAF - 25 years - I was always told a beard was incompatible with gas masks (and oxygen masks for aircrew). Guess they now have new gas masks? And if so, I guess they will now allow beards for everyone?

They wouldn’t let me grow a mustache any bigger than Hitler’s....
