I wonder if this batch of nominees is subject to the blue slip mess?

I sure hope the California nominees contained herein are not selectees from lists provided by Feinstein & Kamala Harris. If so, many or most are certainly far from as good (i.e., non activists) as they could be. Lindsey Graham continuing to allow DemocRATS to have veto power for District Court nominees is beyond reprehensible.

So far, Mitch has respected the “Blue Slip” policy for District Judge appointments. If these California Judges are acceptable to Feinstein and Harris...

I believe that most of these are renominations from last year, whose nominations expired this January.

I suggest FReepers interested in the blue slip process check this article on Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_slip

It’s not as cut and dried as you might think.

IMHO, blue slips have out lived their usefulness.

For anyone interested in deeper digging:
The current California nominees will fill 5 Southern & 5 Central openings.

There are currently 9 Central California district court openings and 3 nominees already pending so following confirmation of all nominees there will be one opening left.

The current court composition is 10R:9D, it will be 18R:9D:1Vacant In Central California there are six judges 75 or older so add’l elections of senior status can be expected to occur in a second Trump term.

In the southern district there are 5 nominees and 5 openings. The current composition is tied 4R:4D, after confirmation of existing nominees it will be 9R:4D

There remain two openings in the Eastern District of CA without nominees. The current balance in the Court is 3D to 1 R. Filling the vacant seat will tie this district. Senior Judges 4R to 1D

Sadly the Northern district with no vacancies is composed of 13D:1R
The two oldest active judges are 75. This will be a task for A Trump second term.

In Illinois there are three open seats in the North district & two in the South District. There is one pending nominee
in both North & South. The new nominees, 2 North & one South will fill all openings in Illinois.
Current court composition in the Northern District is 13D:7R
after the nominees are confirmed the composition will be 13D:10R. There is only one elderly judge who was a Reagan appointee.

In the Southern District the current composition is 2D:2Vacant so confirming the two nominees will tie this district.
Central Illinois appears to be lost for the present 4D:0R and no elderly judges

Talk about some karma for the Lefties - Margaret Morrow [Rapin Bill's sockpuppet in the LA Times/WashPOS lawsuit against Free Republic back in the day] is getting replaced by a Federalist Society member.

Good to see that the phony old partisan hag is off the Federal bench.

5 of the 10 are Federalist Society. Why can’t they all be Federalist society? A dem would never appoint any judge that isn’t total far out leftist. Not that Federalist Society is the be all end all, but at least its a start. Trump is still appointing pedo and homo (but I repeat myself) judges as well. I guess his handlers allow some FS judges to get through along with homos who cancel out the conservative influence.
Not all Trump judges even support Trump. A trump appointed judge ruled that the White House had to reinstate the CNN (Costa?) white house credentials after Trump had his pulled. A Trump appointed judge ruled that the White House cannot pick and chose who it has in the WH harassing the president or his press secretary everyday.
Who approved that judge?
Imagine what Trump could do if he just had a single true blue conservative handler who grasps the war we are in and was willing to do whatever it takes to win.
