I had the same experience. It was the late 1980s and I was driving down to Alabama and flipping the radio dial when I came across Rush for the first time. Probably in Virginia. I was immediately hooked in. Up in Boston where I lived at the time, I was listening to Jerry Williams and Gene Burns on WRKO. Rush just blew the both of them away.
I got to listen to him for 4 hours a day in the late ‘80s. From 10:00 to Noon he had his WABC NYC show, and then from Noon to 2 I picked up a New England station to get the national show. Good times.
I miss Paul Harvey.
yep Now you know the rest of the story
Paul was a treat.
Rush is a blessing.
We had another gem here in SoCal, George Putnam. About Paul Harvey’s age, a friend of Reagan. He was on a tiny radio station here starting about a decade before Rush was picked up by KFI. George provided a forum for conservative activists and journalists, which was a real boon. First place I ever heard Sara Carter, when she was a young journalist covering border issues. I found Rush’s solo format to be weaker by comparison. Entertaining. But Putnam was actually helping to drive California politics and not just talking about them.
Amen...I knew this day would come
It sucks
Its sadly beyond just the lung but that is tear worthy
I can tell, anyone it simply wont be the same
I feel guilty some listening to him today.....he sounds the same but that raven is on his shoulder no question of that
I think hes having treatment next few days I heard....i think
Steyn tomorrow
Dont feel guilty. He is doing what he loves and we live listening to him.
I hope he is with us to celebrate Trump’s 2nd term.
